Make your own minds up by following these simple steps.

Step 1. Type into google '206 gti 180 for sale'
Step 2. The top result should be Pistonheads. Click it.
Step 3. Scroll through the pages and pages of ads.
Step 4. Notice how most 138 gti's are priced £1200 to £1700.
Step 5. Notice how most 180's are priced £3000 to £3600.

Enjoy.

And you're still ignoring the whole age thing?

Not gonna lie this is the most ridiculous argument I have ever seen in my life!

It's kinda similar to comparing a normal ps3 to the slimline ps3.

It's the same with anything when a new model of something comes out the older one immediately becomes more dated and therefore prices will drop.

HDi's are better than both the 180 and GTi. High MPG FTW.

R32's for 'half the price of a 180'? Or from £1500 in other words!! Look below for a link to the real world-
R32's at half the price of a 180!!

& to think your 'probably more educated & smarter than me'

I also had a look in the Auto Trader, can't post a link for some reason (less educated Essex boys for you), but there's no real difference in the price, year for year between the 138 & 180.

i notice how you aint commented about the prices of 180s ive found, p**sing on your theory all 180s with very low milage should be 2k reality is you wont find many if any on autotrader the biggest car advertising service out there, so its a pretty solid argument against 180s being as cheap as 138s reality is there double in price in some cases, i proved you wrong d**k, your 2k 180 was a good find not a good point to judge, its why your judgement is so deluded by the 180 you snuggle up with.

I've never said 'all' low milage 180's should be 2k, & I paid more than that when I got mine nearly 2 years ago. But if I wanted to sell it now, I'd put it up for £2800, but realistically I'd get nearer 2k for it.
And how many times do you & 'lofty' have to be told? You must compare like for like, ie year for year!

I don't see why a year or two difference in age is such a big deal deal to you.

Is there any real difference in an X reg gti to my 51 reg? Not really (not massively), and if they have similar milage then whats the issue?

How many times do we have to be told? I think your argument fell apart a long time ago mate. Not gonna post that frog again to strengthen it?

But even a year or 2 will make a difference in price all things being equal
It's you that was refusing to compare year for year, not me Shocked
So its your argument that fell apart, hence why your changing your tune. Or have you forgot it was You that was comparing x reg 138's with far newer 180's. Wall Bang
So just for you

Well we now know the answer is YES.

If you're comparing both of the cars, which is what the OP was doing, you have to compare the same age of car if you're talking about price.

By your reasoning it would be okay to compare a 53 reg 180 with a 05 reg 138 if they have similar mileage.....

I understand why you bought your car, because it's older than a 180, it will have been cheaper. If I had just over a grand, I would probably get a normal GTi as well.

Exactly, the older the car the less it's worth. & if I'd had just over a grand I'd have still bought the best Gti I could have afforded. But it would have been a 138 simply because the 180's aren't old enough (yet) to have depreciated to my price range. I'd have still hankered after the ultimate (factory) Gti, the 180, but I would have to save for it, not twist economics, depreciation & evolution to justify buying a cheaper inferior car.

The 180 is well cheap & is far far superior to the 138 in every way, especially the Argean blue ones. Their owners are loads more intelligent, handsome, debonair, & better in bed aswell. yes, yes, yes ... Twisted Evil

Brilliant.

I think your argument has a lot of flaws and it seems mine is lost on you so without going over it all again to try and make you understand I will instead display a rolled eyes smiley.

138 within £500 Albeit with more than double the milage.

Im still waiting for where you reckon you can get R32's for £1500?
