Yes, it's very bad to have the washer bottle freeze up...........when water freezes, it expands....and likely to split the plastic washer bottle, more so if the bottle is old and brittle ....(a bit like me... Confused )

That's why its best to use washer bottle additives that contain an antifreeze during the winter.

also depends how much is in the bottle, could just expand into the free space Wink

Should use it all year round tbh for the amount it costs. Just have it more concentrated in winter

Doesn't quite work like that my friend Shocked .......regardless of any free space, when water freezes it expands outwards as equally as it expands upwards..........just half fill a glass of water and leave it in the freezer for a day and see what happens (dont use one of your best glasses though!).............. Razz

Dont use the stuff with antifreeze in it as you dont really need it, plus it will strip any wax you have put on the car.

i've had my bottle freeze last year... and in this weather you'll be waiting ages for it to sort itself out...

this works... boil a kettle... pour the hot water into the neck... hopefully you'll have some space left... keep at it... boring though it is... and you'll sort the problem...

cheers,

ian

Don't use radiator antifreeze in your wash bottle either, it'll damage your paint. Use the proper screenwash, you can get stuff that will stay liquid down to minus 15 I think
