Only today I drove her just to see how she felt, and when I reversed her back into the driveway I noticed that the rear de-misting lines were odd.
Whereas most of them are black, there's like an odd splodge where some are orange? it doesnt seem to be of any shape in particular like a triangle or circle etc, just a random splodge.
Does it mean its damaged? Cause it doesnt look cool.
EDIT: Its the actual black lines that are orange. NOT the glass.

Are there any parts of the lines that are broken? You can get a special thermal contact paint to fill in the lines to make the lines work again lol.

Its a 52 reg, they are ALL black apart from this random shape. I didnt investigate them much, so not sure if there's any broken lines. But dont like the way they are orange, thought maybe the sun had dyed them but its just a toooo weird shape.
Will inspect it tomorrow when i go visit it again didnt really have time today, was shuffling my car, bfs uncles car and his dads car so that my quiksilver was right at the back of the drive not blocking everyone in lol.

Maybe so, can I replace them do you know? Not even sure if they are orange if you look at them from the outside.

#13: Re: rear de-mister problem Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 2:39 am ---- very comon problem, the lines have been broken, this usually happens when someone sticks a sticker on the rear window then rips it off. it can also happen if something large in the boot scratches the window though.
the broken bits look orange because they are missing the darker metal strip which is attatched to the orange paint, now you can only see the orange paint where the strip should be. if the breaks are small you can easily repair them with this
ive used it and it works well. however its unsightly (the repair is bright silver) and its almost impossible to get a thin straight line (even with the stencil)
i only had small breaks and painted it on in little blobs.
if you have large breaks this method would still work but it would be very noticable on the window and you would have to mask the window up before painting it on to get a neat strip i guess.
you can also make a strip tester to find exactly where the breaks in the lines are very easily. all you need is a 12v lightbulb in a holder (like you use in science class in school) then you attatch one wire from the bulb holder to earth (i.e the boot latch) and run the other wire along the line (with the demister on) the bulb should start very bright at one end and slowly get dimmer as you run the wire accross (due to the resistance in the heating element) if your slowly running the wire accross the strip and the bulb suddenly goes out you have found your break.
