206 GTi Won't start
-> 206 Problems

#1: 206 GTi Won't start Author: DanielzZz, Location: Bulgaria PostPosted: Thu Dec 09, 2010 9:26 am

Hey,my name is Daniel and I'm helping a friend with a crashed 206 GTi.Here's the problem:
the car started successfully after 2 years of not being drivven,the engine was working very well,although the STOP light was working.Some messages appeared on the Board Computer,but I didn't read them,because they were in German,and I don't speak that language.
Now the car doesn't want to start,the Engine light stays on.
Also,do you know what resistances should I put on the front airbags,so the Airbag light turns off ? The Airbags are gone after the crash.
Also,my friend checked a pre-facelift 206 GTi and it had something like a restart button in the front(near to the left fender),but his doesn't have that button.Is it possible for it to be moved in other place ?
Thanks,and sorry for my post,I know I have a lot of mistakes,but I'm in a verry big hurry,and I will edit it later.
Cheers,Dan !

If you have onboard computer your car is multiplexed. So you didnt have any fuel cut switch for crash. Did you disconnect battery for 5 minute. And reconnect. Is it cranking ? If its remove fuel line from fuel rail and check fuel is there and enought pressure (3 bar). And you can change language of onboard computer. Its same with adjusting clock. For airbag. First all of you have to reprog you stock airbag controller unit or change with brandnew one or unactivited unit from another car with same amount of airbag (2 or 4 airbag). After reprogramming of your unit you can measure ohm of unactivited airbag unit and solder same ohm resistance. Without reprogramming you cant turn off airbag light.

Car is multiplexed. There is no bulbs. Its SMD LED's. It's have to desolder for remove. Also onboard computer show several errors about airbag.

The problem is the car is my friend's property...but he doesn't speak English,and nobody wants to answer in those Bulgarian forums.Anyway - the engine was working perfectly fine,and all fluids were changed with brand new.Can you explain in detail how to change the language ? I will give a try of that 5 minute battery disconnection.I think the airbag does not need reprograming,because when I put the right resistance the car will think it has airbags.

So...is there any way to manually reset the ECU (I think the problem is there) ?

Making progress...the 5 minute battery disconnection didn't work.
