#1: Spare Wheel.. Author: Bigbenj_08, Location: CardiffPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:31 pm ---- Do you keep your spare wheel in your car/under your car (depending on model) or have you ditched it?
Just wondering, as I saw some tyre weld in Halfords today, and wondered if anyone had replaced their spare with something similar?
#2: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: brad-morris, Location: BromsgrovePosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:37 pm ---- Keep it, you never know when you might need it, its only going to save a few kilos if you do ditch it
#3: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: kingdom200, Location: Leamington SpaPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:39 pm ---- 180 didnt come with one... but if i had one id keep it whats the point in taking it off?....
#4: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: troy, Location: llanelliPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:40 pm ---- my sister hit a curb yesterday and blew out a wheel and dented the rim, i dont think tyre weld will help with that. id keep it becuase the day you get rid of it is the day youl need it.
#5: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:41 pm ---- Might as well keep it if you have one it's not like it gets in the way of anything either
#6: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: Bigbenj_08, Location: CardiffPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:45 pm ---- lol.... lots of assumptions here... I didn't say I was planning to ditch mine, just wondered if anyone had!
General consensus seems to be a no though
#7: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:46 pm ---- I didn't mean towards you personally, but if anyone had one I don't see the logic in getting rid of it purposely
#8: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:49 pm ---- You will have space saver anyway I would of thought so may as well keep it
#9: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: Antknee, Location: ManchesterPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 2:18 pm ---- I ditched the space saver for a standard steel wheel when i changed to alloys
#10: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: Mrs_Howey, Location: WorthingPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 3:32 pm ---- I took mine off as the cage was lose and was rattling, so i took it off as i got fed up with the noise, but it's sitting under my 205 now
#11: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: t1mmy, Location: ReadingPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 3:36 pm ---- I took mine off when I had the 206. A can of tyre weld in the car and AA membership. Never had any issues.
#12: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: rttam, Location: devonPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 3:50 pm ---- 180 only comes with tyre weld bloody useless when you catch a rock down a back lane lucily i had the wheels from my old 206 at home so dad to the rescue and then i could drive it home
now have a full size spare that i put in the boot for longer journeys
#13: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: Iain, Location: Aberdeen, ScotlandPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 6:16 pm ---- I tend to have a spare Vortex in the boot, unless I plan on using the boot.... Then it's fingers crossed time. Not really a big fan of tyre weld that the 180 comes with.
#14: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: vanman_foci, Location: Barry, South WalesPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 6:41 pm ---- I chopped away my spare wheel well on my clio to fit dual exit exhausts lol
#15: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: jamie_206, Location: DoncasterPosted: Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:48 am ---- Tyre weld is useless . I had to rely on it once . . . Never again though !
#16: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: T_bandery, Location: East londonPosted: Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:52 am ---- AA membership does the job

Tyre weld also ruins a potentially repairable tyre
Tyre weld rots the inside of the tyre, its a get you home / to a garage slowly bodge.

#19: Re: Spare Wheel.. Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Mon Dec 13, 2010 9:25 am ---- RAC member here.
I wouldnt call them out just to change a wheel unless the car was stuck on the side of road in a dangerous position.
Full size steel spares in the cage with its homemade antitheft device
