#1: Drivers side Mirror not de-misting Author: thedriver2k6, Location: Harrogate, North YorkshirePosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 4:06 pm ---- Hi All,
Couldnt find this anywhere on Google so I'll ask it here.
Since the freezing weather (recorded -15 degrees in my 206!) my drivers side wing mirror has stopped heating up/de-misting.
The rear window still works with no breaks in the lines and the passenger side works like a charm. I've cleaned the mirror to ensure it wasnt just dirt on it and it really isnt heating up!
I've popped off the interior quarter lght panal and check the connections which seem fine and the rubber tube in the door to car gap also appears to be fine with no damage and all plugged in correctly.
Is there any where else to check the wiring or how I can test the mirror without taking it to the garage as they are quoting £60/hr to diagnose + repair. I understand the mirror glass itself can be bought fairly cheap on eBay but would hate to replace it for the fault to remain in the wiring.
Hope someone can answer
Many thanks
James

If there is +12volts, then the mirror is faulty. Turn the glass so its as far left as it goes (so its turned towards the car), you can then see two metal pins that hold the glass in place, just flick them and the glass will fall out. There is jsut two female spade connectors connecting the wires to the glass.

It should be plastic clips, get fingers behind the mirror glass then give it a sharp pull & the glass should pop off.
On refitting the glass you should hear 4 clicks as each clip secures to the motor assembly.
Its either a wire fell off OR someones replaced the glass with a non heated version

Took out the glass (thanks for the instructions) and checked the connections. There is voltage coming through the connectors but the glass does not heat up. The passenger side feels hot to touch when the de-mister is on so i've ordered a new heated glass and i'll let you know how I get on.

Hi All,
Thanks for your help, new mirror glass has sorted out the problem and I can see in the mirror again on the cold mornings
