#1: car reading 5mph when at stop Author: troy, Location: llanelliPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 2:31 pm ---- the other day i turned my ignition on and the speedo jumped to about 30mph and ever since it has sat at5mph, also the handbrake warning beep comes on when you put it up when stationary which is obviously related.
i also drove about 50 miles the other day and when i got to my destination the milage has only gone up 2miles on the trip and on the milage.
just incase it matters my n/s front abs ring is cracked and the light has been on for a while but i shouldnt have thought this would have affected the speedo when standing.
any ideas as the diagnostic brings up nothing
#2: Re: car reading 5mph when at stop Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 2:39 pm ---- Cluster is f****d i would say
#3: Re: car reading 5mph when at stop Author: Iain, Location: Aberdeen, ScotlandPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 2:41 pm ---- I thought some 206's (I don't remember which) used the ABS sensor as the input for your speedo? Either way it should be fixed as soon as possible really, so you'll find out if that was the issue.
If I'm wrong, which I probably am, I think there's a sensor on/attached/whatever to the gearbox. Could check the soldering behind the cluster as well (Basically what Lee said).
Have you tried searching? I'm pretty sure there's been similar problems.
#4: Re: car reading 5mph when at stop Author: troy, Location: llanelliPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 5:33 pm ---- ye, i have searched but couldnt find anything. im goin to have a quick look at the cluster tommoorow.
strange thing is when you turn the ignition completely off the speed doesnt go down to zero, but i have disconected the battery and that drops it down to 0, but as soon as you reconect and put the ignition on it comes back to 5mph.
verry strange
