#1: How long is a 206 life span? !!! Author: DaFoot, Location: Sheffield/LeedsPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 5:22 pm ---- Last MOT I had warnings on exhaust silencer and brakes (discs/pads). Car is due a major service and now I'm getting serious clutch issues (description of thrust bearings I've read on line seems to fit the bill for where the problem is).
I'm getting the train to work tomorrow as I don't trust the car to survive the commute until fixed!
All in I'm expecting a bill anything from £500 to 700 if I get it all done.
It's a battered old 1.4 GLX, X reg (2000?) with nearly 80k on the clock. I do around 20k miles a year.
So...given the age of the car, the mileage it has done and the sort of miles I'm doing, is repair a waste of money? Guesses on how long it's likely to last if I get it repaired (assuming 'only' the above problems exist!)?
Is it time to bite the bullet and change cars?

#3: Re: How long is a 206 life span? !!! Author: Mrs_Howey, Location: WorthingPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 5:26 pm ---- It will be fine once you've got everything fixed, as long as you look after the car and service it, it should last for at longer yet.
Howey is on 105k miles and runs like a treat

Author: Ste, Location: Hull -or- The World Of Info CodePosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 5:27 pm ---- I've heard and known petrol 206's to exeed the 100k mark quite frequently.. It all depends on your finances I guess, if it was my car I'd get a new one but if you feel you cant afford to do that at the moment I guess the fix will work out better for you?

Author: namgaj, Location: Chasing Ash, Addaz and Lee........... hopefully catching Addaz and havin fun :PPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 5:31 pm ---- They get to an age where wear and tear items need replacing, but regular servicing and looking after in general should see it go a while yet granted with the odd thing like bushes, tyres, ect replacing
#6: Re: How long is a 206 life span? !!! Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 5:33 pm ---- If you get the things fixed and serviced it would sell for more afterwrds, in comparison to a listing that says "in need of major service"
Mine is a 1.4 and ive been told thatif looked after it could last to 150k. Thats why I search/ask on here as soon as I get a fault and get it sorted promptly, there is a lot of sentiment in my car though so I'm going to see how long I can run it for

#8: Re: How long is a 206 life span? !!! Author: DaFoot, Location: Sheffield/LeedsPosted: Thu Dec 16, 2010 5:44 pm ---- It has been serviced regularly by me (well, the garage!) - every 15k miles or since I've had it. But that's only 18 months or so, before that I suspect it had been neglected
