128k on my 7yr old one, but it is a 1.4 hdi. Slips out of of 4th occasionally on bumpy A roads and the drivers seat rail is totally knackered. Temporary bodge on it at the moment, but sure it will be an mot failiure for that. £100 from peugeot is a no no and not seen many on ebay. Might look out for a cheap new interior.

Drive with mechanical sympathy and service it regulary and it will do big milage. Drive it like a nutter and neglect it and it will be a money pit wreck in no time at all.

Last MOT I had warnings on exhaust silencer and brakes (discs/pads). Car is due a major service and now I'm getting serious clutch issues (description of thrust bearings I've read on line seems to fit the bill for where the problem is).

I'm getting the train to work tomorrow as I don't trust the car to survive the commute until fixed!

All in I'm expecting a bill anything from £500 to 700 if I get it all done.

It's a battered old 1.4 GLX, X reg (2000?) with nearly 80k on the clock. I do around 20k miles a year.

So...given the age of the car, the mileage it has done and the sort of miles I'm doing, is repair a waste of money? Guesses on how long it's likely to last if I get it repaired (assuming 'only' the above problems exist!)?

Is it time to bite the bullet and change cars?

unless you change car every years, those things are tire and wear so you have to face it at some point Cool

but yeah, won't cost 500 for the clutch and exhaust and brakes

I think the little TU engines will last for a long time, providing that they've been looked after! You could buy a new car and need to spend £500 on that too, so it's catch 22.
