#1: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:05 pm ---- Today was snowy and icey as most of you probably know.
I went down some lanes and had to brake to stop myself going into another car, only to skid quite far, with alot of horrible electrical noises, which im guessing was my ABS, all the other cars ive been in with ABS have never made this noise.
There was no fault warning, but wondered if it could still be malfunctioning with out knowing it is?
After the first near miss, every time I put my brakes on hard put not sharp it would make an electrical noise. Bit like a pc printer (like my printer anyway).
#2: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:08 pm ---- I can feel my ABS kicking in when sliding on snow feels like the pedal is moving by itself.
Get the codes read and see what it comes up with.
#3: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:09 pm ---- I couldnt feel it kicking in on the ice, I just skidded.
The other times, my brakes werent on enough for ABS to kick in.
What codes do you mean? There is no code, just alot of 'unhealthy' noises.
#4: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:11 pm ---- Codes on the ECU but if it was at fault I would of thought you would have warning light on
#5: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:12 pm ---- Wheres the ECU? Not to sound stupid or anything lol. No wanring lights or anything come up.

#7: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:17 pm ---- The quiksilver one does, or so the garage said.
I have the ABS icon come up when the ignition is on.
#8: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Seabook, Posted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:18 pm ---- did the abs light on when you turn the key for 1 click before starting the engine?
#9: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:20 pm ---- ermm not not sure the clicks, but it comes up when I turn the key, but goes off when the engine starts.
#10: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Seabook, Posted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:24 pm ---- then i guess the abs is working fine :s
#11: Re: ABS Malfunctioning? Author: Marni..206, Location: S. DevonPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:26 pm ---- Also when the car is stopped is make a funny clicking noise, bit like sparks?
And when its being driving there's a low thud thud thud.
All since the car skidded the first time.
EDIT: Also a really squeaky noise from the front left wheel. But it stops when the place is put on.
