the old man recons it might be a starter motor fault =/
it flattend the battery trying to start it yesterday but we bump started it and it took basicly 2 car lengths and it started instnatly
also , it keeps poping up " Antipolution fault " and occasionaly " Engine Imobiliser Fault "

thing is , when i tried to start it on my battery , it turned over okay , eventualy flattened the battery.
i.e the starter moter just about turning over
so i figured ok , battery flat , grabbed the battery out of my dads 2.7 ford maverick , now this is a seriously big battery , nearly put my back out moving the dam thing.
hooked it up
and what do you know , the starter motor still just about turned. as if that was a flat battery.
#21: Re: 206 HDi 2.0 Turbo Cold Starting Problems Author: PUG91, Location: ShropshirePosted: Tue Jan 04, 2011 6:58 am ---- I had similar issues, with temperatures of -15 to -18 I'd have to prime it a good 10 times and still the engine sounded like a dog when kicking in but sure enough it was fine and now the weathers warmed up it's perfect again.
I used to have a fix it again tomorrow (fiat) and it had the same thing, sounded like a flat battery when turning over but it turned out to be the starter motor teeth had rounded and so not engaging and just spinning freely and killing the battery, possible thing to try if all else fails

I found a solution.....new battery... Electrical faults flashing up like you have mentioned are usually a sign of a very worn battery.
I put my new battery in and it fired first time. No issues since. Not saying this is the solution to your problem but hope it helps

Starter motor sounds like a viable option , surely if the teeth had worn off you'd hear some sort of grinding noise ?

I did for a short while whilst it was still working, later to be followed by just a whirling where it was 100% f*&ked and then just dead battery noises lol

I normally turn the key and wait for the lights to go out and the pump(?) to stop making it's noise than try to fire her up. When it does catch, normally on the 3rd go, I get an 'airbag fault' warning on the display panel. If I turn engine off and restart, this resets!
Car fires normally in warmer weather.
I mark it down as just one of those quirks of the car.

it's getting to the point where it neeeds a new battery anyway so thats on the wishlist , and yes as its warnmed up a bit it fires over with no problems.
