just standard tyres on mine, which are better for snow

Mine wasn't so great, not helped being so low + front splitter meant it caught the snow in the middle of the road where everybody else had made 'tram lines'.

This is how it looked at 8am this morning when I had just got in from a night shift at work, was only driving for maybe 15 minutes today and same last night going to work :/

i have M&S road tyres and they do make all the difference. not only to driving on snow and ice, but better grip and braking distances in general cold weather.

anyone who tells you otherwise is a tightarse who won't spend the money on being safer on the road.
may not be necessary in built up areas down south but they have been essential for me.

our 1.4 hdi is crap on snow hence still waiting on new winter tyres coming for it.

Winter tyres really make a night and day difference, you just have to look at the videos on youtube tests to see that.

Saying that, I haven't bothered because I don't have a spare set of wheels to put them on, I don't want to spend the money, and I don't NEED to drive anywhere.

Mine is on a set of budget Marshall tyres and going fine.
Man up and go play in it i say lol...

Ok im 35 and been driving since i was 17 so use to driving in snow but come on i overtook somebody in a 4x4 yesterday as they were doing 5mph.
I was only in my little 1.4 lx.
I love my skinny wheels that are working fine in this weather..

It's amazing the number of clowns out there that drive with 6 inches of snow on the roof and all the lights covered too.

4x4 owners amaze me when they seem to think all wheel drive makes then invincible. They don't seem to realise that 4wd just helps them go, they have no more cornering or stopping ability that a 2wd car.

Well they'll surely have better engine braking with all 4 wheels being slowed, but agreed otherwise.

or if you have a low range gearbox... or diff locks... or a land rover...

But mr executive in his x5 and the school run mum in her merc with their low profile tyres will have no chance Very Happy

Really annoys methat does i drive a Caddy maxi with over 300kg in the back and they expect me to speed up because hes up my a**e. i drive to the conditions of the road and the vehicle im driving not to some TW*T behind me.

Rather than getting up someones a**e I find simply overtaking is much more of a benifit for both parties.

finished work at about 2 this morning and took the pug up to Stanley to drop a colleague home (Up a hill and usually the first to lose buses in the snow) then went to do the christmas food shop (great, supermarket to myself) weather was filthy and snow lying on all the roads and the car drove like it just wasn't there. Winter tyres all round make a massive difference and really earning their keep at the moment.

shopped around online for my tyres and finished up getting them from Kwik fit!! no more expensive than anyone else which I was a bit surprised at.
right in the middle of the last batch of snow and I sat waiting for them to fit them while a string of people came in all excited because they'd seen the pile of winter tyres there only to be told they were all ordered and there was at least 2 weeks waiting list now. Cool Glad I got them when I did.
btw, wife's only got them on the front which is great for not getting stuck, but drove her car the other day and got all opposite lock on the first couple of corners after getting out of mine. Shocked
