'Sudden' radiator failure (if this is the case, as you describe it as 'gone bang') can usually be attributed to one of two reasons, the first could be because you have no antifreeze in the system and the coolant has frozen and burst the rad, the other reason can be sudden pressurization of the radiator where it 'blows' due to head gasket failure between one of the waterways and a cylinder.

i don't think the fitment is the same?

1.1,1.4and 1.6 has smaller radiator.

if you don't have anti-freezer in your coolant, you might crack the cylinder head as well

Pretty sure a 1.4 8v will definately not fit mate, even the gti one is different.

Tbh i cant explain why this has happened there where no signs of HG failure no loss of oil or coolant and i came out yesterday afternoon and o look water was ppissing out
i did not even get a chance to start the car i could hear it

The hose with the clip should seal themselves.

Just buy a large 'jubilee' clip' from any motor factor.
