#1: Anybody use biodiesel ? Author: fkismad, Location: Northern Ireland PostPosted: Mon Dec 20, 2010 5:14 pm
    ----
Got my first diesel car (2000 206 1.9) and am considering using biodiesel. Ive read up on it and it seems pretty good. Just want to know has anyone ran their 206 on biodiesel and if so was there any problems?

Start off with like 50/50, then move to like 75/25

You have to change the fuel filter more often tho.

i wouldnt bother, i work in a garage and have had some cars come in with injector and high pressure fuel pump faults caused by this biodeisel, i wouldnt touch it personally

I wouldnt use it on a commonrail diesel engine, but the old 1.9d will have no problems.

Yeah im in two minds about it, it would save me about £50 a week (if i made it myself) but wouldnt want it to kill my car!

If it has a Bosch fuel pump then go ahead & run it on bio.
A 1.9 diesel with a Bosch pump will run on nearly anything oil / diesel based if mixed correctly, just remember the increased amount of filter changes.

If it's a Lucas fuel pump, dont even risk it.

What He Said

we have found at work that it rots the seals in the diesel pumps etc not cheaper in the long run in my opinion

I'd just put normal pump diesel in...not worth risking putting anything else in it.

i used to run my old 405 derv on a tenner of diesel then filled up to the brim with chip fat, saved me some money but my god did it make you hungry!

on common rail engines it does your injectors for sure.... had 6 sets so far on customer cars... they sieze up... pumps normally follow shortly after.
I do plant machinery as well and have had a brand new New Holland Wheel digger with 400 hours on the clock go pop... it was injectors. The owner was using heating oil mixed with red .... cost him nearly 6K

Does that answer your question
