#1: Anyone ever repaired a heated rear windscreen? Author: Mike, Posted: Tue Dec 21, 2010 10:15 am ---- Two of my lines on the HRW aren't working so looking at trying to repair them, saw this guide below from another forum and guessing it's pretty similar for all cars but wondered had anyone tried it on a 206 and got any tips etc?

It's easy! Think of it as a cross between painting with a fine brush and soldering.
With that guide, it says it all. You don't need any tips to be honest!

it does work, however the repair is noticable as its a bright silver line and not dark brown. the stencil that comes with the kit is useless.
i attempted to mask the area but found it difficult to get a good masking line because the lines on the window were not straight but curved up at the edges.
you can find any breaks by visually looking, breaks in the lines appear bright orange instead of dark brown.
you can also find breaks in the lines using a 12v bulb in a bulbholder. connect one wire to ground (such as the boot latch) and run the other wire from the bulbholder along the lines of the window. the bulb should be lit up brightly at the beginning of the line (on the left hand side) and progressily get darker as you run the wire across. if the bulb suddenly goes out you have found a break.
i found it easy to repair small i.e 1-5mm breaks but very difficult to repair large breaks as the paint gets messy when attempting to do a long line
also when the paint dries it forms a hard metal consistancy. its not really possible to paint over masking tape and peel the tape off leaving a straight line. it either rips the tape or breaks all of the paint off.
it is difficult stuff to work with. however does repair the window well if its done right. you should have a go, providing the breaks arnt too large.
