#1: boot won't open after stupid JCB bucket Author: Harty, Location: West Lothian PostPosted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 6:17 pm
    ----
hey so i was waiting at a roundabout and a JCB drove the bucket into my boot Evil or Very Mad the insurance has written the car off and offered me a payout but i kept the car and am getting more money than i payed for it plus the car back Very Happy so i'm gonna get it repaired myself, only problem is the boot is damaged and unable to open from the outside, if i can get it open i can change the tailgate and light which is the only things wrong (bumper ans rear quarters are still perfect) with it then get it sprayed or whatever! is there any way to get it open without damaging the bumper? the lock works fine just the handle won't move at all. will i have to beat it back into shape to open it? or is there a way to open it from the inside?
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Chris

have you tried removing the pannel on the inside of the tailgate and manually pulling the wire?

Handbook gives you the how-to on releasing the boot latch from the inside.
