#1: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:32 am ---- Anyone know how to remove a bi-plane spoiler without damaging the tailgate.....
#2: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:36 am ---- Depends if it's sealed on or not. If it is sealed, then it gets a little difficult.
#3: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:46 am ---- As it was fitted when I put the tailgate on I am not sure.... the similar items describe it as a "bolt on" spoiler but where would the bolts be.... short of removing the tailgate to find them I wondered if anyone know
#4: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:48 am ---- Sometimes the sides will pop off and reveal the bolts, but I don't think the bi plane works like that.
Try popping open the boot and look for bolts or panels. If it's not sealed on, there has to be some way of getting to the bolts.
#5: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:52 am ---- Tried that..... would they be under the two hinge brackets and where the cables go through.....possible. As predicted the MSA have refused it on the logbook because they say its not a standard spoiler for the 206 or one that is currently homologated, I therefore have to remove it and re-submit new photos for the logbooking.... and the first rally is end of January
#6: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:59 am ---- I think it will be tiger sealed on Mac, you can remove it but I think it will damage the tailgate.
#7: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:03 am ---- Bugger......... MSA are a pain..... they didnt like the front number plate either..... not entirely legal !!!!

#10: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:07 am ---- I would give it a new tailgate if it werent for the colour, signwriting and sponsors logos
#11: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:10 am ---- You're sure there's no bit of the spoiler that pulls off to reveal the bolts?
#12: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:12 am ---- nope..... hacksaw out me thinks.....bye-bye tailgate glass
#13: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:14 am ---- maybe you could replace it with plastic? is the glass at all structural? Would probably benefit in the long run if you rally it.
I might be talking out of my a**e though, I haven't got a clue about this stuff
#14: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:17 am ---- not a bad plan actually...... like your thinking, Plastics for Performance do a polycarb one..... wheres the cheque book
#15: Re: removing a bi-plane spoiler Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:21 am ---- Haha, seems worth a go. Let the MSA b***h about that instead.
