So, what kind of engines can easily be stuck into a plexed 1.1?

I fancy a project that involves my car getting more horsepower, but I don't feel like changing all the gear box and stuff like that.

Don't think the 1.1 gearbox would be able to handle much power would it? Maybe a 1.4 or 1.6lump if it could?

If you swapping the engine you'd probably be taking the box out with it.

Probably another TU lump, a 1.4 wouldn't really require an upgrade of suspension or brakes.

Anyone that tells you to tune the 1.1 needs their head checked.

Well, I'm not after a monster here. 1.6 max really. Just wondered if it's easily done and how much it would cost.

Says the guy with a 1.4. Put a sock in it Ash, unless you want to be productive.

I'm being serious. Is it really worth the time and money?

We always tell others to buy new cars instead of doing Engine Swaps... it's the same with you.

Nothing is worth the time and the money with cars. It's just fun.

Sure it's easier and cheaper to buy a new car, but I love tinkering with it.

tu engine would be an easy one, you'll need a donor car for all the other stuff, ecu etc, or go all the way and chuck a v8 in there or a subaru 360bhp lump in it, have you ever watched chop shop, !!!!!!

If I'm honest I'm actually sick and fed up of reading threads like this on info.. For one reason 'buy a new car' always crops up..

For people who want to keep their car and get more beans out of it that isn't a productive reply.. Its just another way to put them down, I've been there with it on here, hence I moved to my local car group for help and ideas on the matter and not once did anyone say get a new car, every answer was productive and I've pretty much sorted my engine swap plans now with the help of them..

Where's the originality in buying a new car anyway? I thought this was a forum to discuss and help people with the passion for modifying their cars??

GL with it all Dab Thumb Up

A friend of mine put a 1.4 into his 1.1 and he said it was almost a straight swap

yeah the 1.4 and 1,1 look the same and fit the same , carefull though they use different sensors, different water temp sensor etc, not sure on the 1.6 tu engine never worked on one.

the 1.1 and 1.4 are really easy and you will gain alot too, not like turbo differnce but you will notice a big gain in power

Might do that then. I'm just after a bit more grunt on motorways but without a massive insurance penalty.

I recently discovered that it's cheaper for me to insure a 1.4 206 than a 1.1. Work that one out.
