just been out for some food and when we got back in the car the revs dropped to under 1000 n the car was juddering with no power at all, turned it off and on and seemed fine until tried to reverse out the space and it stalled, it did these again and again and i had to start it up about 5 times until it started to move and then about 20minutes later the revs dropped all of a sudden and started juddering again. any ideas? the car is a 2003 1.4 8v

Try cleaning the idle control valve for starters.

Its pretty easy DIY.

You need to remove 2 x torx 20 screws to get the stepper motor out / back in again, don't loose the O ring seal of the end.

WD40, some paper towel's & some cotton buds are all really you need to clean it with.

If the car will run normally when the throttle is applied it's probably not the idle control valve.
