Your car should be EOBD being a 2003 petrol, you can buy a basic engine fault code reader for around £20 if you look hard enough on Ebay.
If you want to go in to ABS, airbag or other codes etc then you need to spend a bit more.

PPS is the dealer tool & you can do a lot with it
It does cost a lot though
