#1: 5 door jewels Author: troy, Location: llanelli PostPosted: Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:09 am
    ----
hi, as some of you may know i bought mr and mrs kencos 206. iv done a few things since owning her so i thought i should start a project thread.

this is how i got her,

i then added some black masked headlights courtesy of b47ton

form christmas off my girlfriend i had a bonnet bra and a debadged grill which is yet to be painted.

i have also added some led sidelights, 6000k hid's, 2 jbl gt5-12 subs with a fli monoblock, and i also have some 205 gti alloys which will be fitted once i have re-painted them.

any comments criticism welcome, it is a forum after all so you can say what you like, i wont get offended.

How much for the Vortexs? Wink

You have a lot to do to beat the Kencos effort with her, she looked lovely (and low) @ the summer meet! Smile

Looking good mate... what colour (paint code) is that car?

#4: Re: 5 door jewels Author: troy, Location: llanelli PostPosted: Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:16 am

the paint code is ets, i havnt seen many this colour.

sorry tom, but im quite fond of the vortex's, i know the kencos did a very good job and it still shows now, you can see inside and out that money has been spent, its just a shame more of the goodies were not in the car when i got it. i have been offered the gt bumper but im not sure wether to go for it or to just fit a leon splitter to my bumper now.

Prefered it before you messed with it to be honest. Bonnet bras remind me of my mum and tablecloths. Take something nice and shiney and cover it in a crap bit of cloth to keep it that way, ensuring its never seen (and hence who cares if its shiney or not).

lol, its suprising how many people hate bra's

I'd ditch the bra and get the GT bumper. It looked epic before.

im gonna give jazz a ring now and see if shes still got it, what do you think about the grill, iv had people tell me too leave it that colour and then other people say just paint under the lights and leave the centre black.

#10: Re: 5 door jewels Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in front PostPosted: Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:34 am

I'd have to colour code it, but i'm a perfectionist.

It's up to you at the end of the day, but it looks unfinished as it is.

Either colour code it or paint under the lights only.

ye, i think il paint under the lights and then if it looks w**k il paint it all,

Ditch the bra, paint the badgeless grille silver + fill the bonnet notch and fit the GT bumper with LCR splitter and you're onto a winner!

P.S. Also add a standard black wiper mechanism cover.

Who cares if the paintwork is chipped or not if you can't see it? Or are you thinking to keep it nice when it comes to sell it? If the latter then I'd not be surprised to find a nasty line across the bonet where the paint has faded differently with different exposure to the sun.

Trapped moisture under bonnet bras can cause havoc with bodywork as well. Especially if there is anywhere that it can pool.

Another problem I have heard is that any dust/dirt/particles trapped under can cause thousands of tiny scratches from the movement of the fabric, leaving a visible difference in finish quality.

They just ain't worth leaving on for long periods of time, or even putting on and taking off frequently.

according to the book i got with it you are meant to take it off every fortnight and give it a clean. its not that much hard work really.

Make sure you get a good layer of wax on there when you clean under to help protect the paintwork.

Out of interest, is the bra got an inner lining, like fleece or lamb wool or anything?

#23: Re: 5 door jewels Author: troy, Location: llanelli PostPosted: Sun Jan 02, 2011 10:32 am

no, but there is a very smooth backing to it, i think its a felt like material.

Yes i ment it stops stone chips and the car will look in better condition come sale time. thay might couse little surface scratches that can be polished out but its not a solid colour so it isnt really going to fade the paint that much and if it did it would be so minute a good polish would sort it out. i would wax the bonnet befoure fitting it.

For me it's boring. Looks pretty much the same as when Dai had it. You need to put your own touches to it.

Thats just my opinion

i completely understand that vanman, afterall it was there car and the only thing i have done that is the same as they had it is the gt bumper. i will be putting my own touches to it soon, i have put a bra on it which allot of people do not like but i like. i have got some 205 gti alloys to put on when i get the chance and i have got some more plans for it.

i am not trying to copy, i am just doing what i think looks good.

also for a quick update, i drove over a drain out of work on wednesday and snapped a spring so my car is stuck at work at the moment waiting for a new set of springs, also while i am there i am changing the o/s lower arm and the n/s cv joint as the abs ring has cracked.

right then, i am still alive. been trying to save some money so the 206 was at the back of my mind.

But im ready to start spending again, lil update, a women in work reversed into me the other day so i need a new n/s/f wing, and she scratched the bumper so im going to buy a gti bumper.

my main debate tho is wether to but some cades eros in silver ? and also wether 15 would be to small, i want the car rather low

opinions welcome
