#1: My 1st track event Author: Icetto, Location: Cape TownPosted: Mon Jan 03, 2011 4:50 am ---- In Cape Town at our race track called Killarney they have monthly events called Street 2 Strip. This is timed quarter mile runs and are for any street legal cars. You pay a fee and you can run as many times as you like.
This was my 1st time on the track on 26 December 2010 and I don't even do stand still races on the streets. I must say that start lights caught me out the 1st few times. I was left sleeping at times.
Here are my runs, opponents and times:
1. Ice vs 206 RC - I lost - 16.9
2. Ice vs 206 RC - I won - 16.5
3. Ice vs 206 RC - I won - 16.2
4. Ice vs Nissan Sabre GXi - I lost - 15.9
5. Ice vs VW Golf 1.8 - I won - 15.6
6. Ice vs Nissan Sentra STi - I won - 15.4

Some guys at the track reckon I can do 15.0 with a better launch and cooler temperatures. It was 35 degrees on that day.

Haha an SA 206 club. I wish we had so many Peugeots. We just have a SA Peugeot club.
In Cape Town there are only 3 Peugeots so far that race on track (2 180s and 1 207 GTi) amongst the hundreds of Golfs, Nissans, Hondas and Toyotas.
People are taking note though. One can hear on the live commentry on that day. Another 180 took 2nd place in a sound off in the "Street Class".
So overall it was a good day for Peugeot that day
