Well it isn't going to be a project car as such - but I will be doing things to it. going to keep it subtle. Thinking of the clear lights allround theme but not found any I like for the rear yet. Then colour coding all that black plastic.

There will be interior mods for sure and MAYBE a boot build but only a small one.

First things to sort before any pretty stuff are the Off side lower wishbone (can anyone help with that please? I haven't the tools to do it safely.

Then a little chip on the windscreen (insurance company can do that)

Expansion bottle is on order to replace this...

There is a ding on the bonnet - I might fix it, might just buy a bonnet, not sure yet.

Door card repair or replace (drivers side)

and new handle needed for seat.

Does anyone know the paintcode for this beastie? It looks silver but with a blue, pearly finish.

It's called Moonstone Blue, paintcode might be EXY, don't quote me!

Cheers for that Jamie. Is it a single coat colour or base and clear?

Check the 'Identify Your Car' section.

A new handle and expansion tank could be gotten from a breakers for little, or free.

Thats an old GTi, must be the oldest I've seen on the site!

Expansion tank on it's way from Ebay for £10 incl postage! Woohoo

As for the age, I know she's old for a GTi but for £700 who can complain? lol

Well, nothing to take pics of as yet but I have installed my head unit (including swapping the power wires over), changed the knackered overflow bottle, done oil change and coolant change, replaced hazard light switch which was faulty, swapped bulbs in clock panel for LED and removed the orange filter, reconnected the connector on the striker plate for the boot....

Bought lower wishbone for drivers side but not fitted yeat as gonna do it when the clutch gets done next weekend - seeing as the thrust bearing has failed!!! Grrrr

Going to continue with all the repairs for funtion for now. Once she's 100% reliable and running well the beautification begins!

Finally something that isn't a mechanical repair.

Detangoed centre console, trip meter (not got a pic yet) Ripspeeed DVD player courtesy of albackjcb.

Notice the red thing at the bottom? It's a USB stick inserted into my fave mod so far. I installed a USB socket into the panel which covers the screws under there.

Melted to the panel with a hot knife. You have to put it this far forward or the panel will not go back in place. Even with it this far forward it was a squeeze and it is sticking out some in the middle. Need to rethink this one but for now it is solid and connected to th back of the ripspeed DVD player. Works a treat!

FINALLY got the clutch sorted and lower wishbone went in as I put the gear box back on - this car now drives like it is on rails! I did find a couple of others things that need sorting though. One driveshaft boot has split during the clutch mess about and I need a track rod end so gonna do the drop links while I am there - Pretty much a full front end suspension swap then.

Needs a wash and the exhaust is now blowing so once these bits are sorted, I can start spending money on prettying it up a bit Wink
