#1: Ice INSIDE My Car Author: JDave, Location: Airdrie, Scotland PostPosted: Fri Jan 07, 2011 6:54 am

Hi,

Went into my car yesterday after work and the inside of the windscreen was frozen. i.e. I had to scrape the frost from the inside.

What the hell? I cannot fathom why this is.

Any ideas?

Thanks

JD

Condensation has frozen.

this happens in my GF's car, somehow moisture got inside the car onto the window, and it got below freezing and froze onto the window on the inside.

could be because the car has a small leak and water got in and attempted to evaporate. or could be because you sat in the car a while after it was turned off before you got out. causing the windows to steam up. which then froze over night Razz

Defrost your windows (spend tenminutes heating car on with blowers on full.)
Then wipe all the moisture off the windscreen.
Give a good clean with some decent window cleaner and some newspaper.

Should stop it freezing. Smile

Either that and/or when driving put your blower onto taking air from outside rather than re-circulating. Then when stopping (and leaving overnight) make sure that no moisture is on the inside. Smile

White vinegar and newspaper are the best things to clean windows

this is an awesome way to get clean windows and i think better than window cleaner just add water and vinegar. i had a frozen windscreen when the weather was bad over xmas was due to me getting in car with snowy feet and then it soaking into the car mats and when i got out after a short journey moister was stil in car and froze over night.

Stupid question maybe but would it make any difference shutting all your vents off when you get out the car? mine does it too and it's a pain in the hoop, but no cure yet! Sad

Usually this is due to an old pollen filter.
I'm unsure if a 206 has one? But if it does it should be under the scuttle panel on the right of the engine bay. Shouldn't have to remove the whole panel though.
