#1: Mileage Correction Author: davieboy86, Location: Kent,Posted: Sat Jan 08, 2011 9:49 am ---- Hey guys well ive just managed to find myself a replacement speedo unit for the one i broke a few weeks ago. While i was changing the dials over i broke the LCD ribbon cable for the milage screen.
After a few false starts i've managed to get a fully working unit, the only problem is that the milage showing on the screen is set at 72000 ish miles and the car was only at 42000 ( 39000 at the last official recorded service).
I knew prior about the issue of putting in new clocks with a higher milage than the car itself but after doing some research there are companies out there that can correct mistaken dials. these all appear to be real legit companies like dash doctor and cluster repairs UK. However it appears they are using something similar to peugeot planet (or whatever the program is called).
Now finally to my questions lol,
1. does anyone have any knowledge / experiance in this area?
2. Is anyone actually capable of doing this for less than the £50 i was quoted by these companies?
Thanks for any help or direction guys.

It will be more than £50.

I got some new dials which do have a lower mileage then my older ones i thought would change to the higher mileage is there anything i need to do, or will it do it after a certain amount of miles.
Only multiplexed 206's will.
Non plexed will display whatever is in the actual instrument cluster memory.

#11: Re: New Speedo Mileage Change Author: davieboy86, Location: Kent,Posted: Sat Jan 08, 2011 2:02 pm ---- Trying to find pre plex dials with under 42000 on the clock has been pretty tricky so far lol, I might give that gumtree ad a call, jut want it done properly not some bodge job if you see what I mean.
#12: Re: New Speedo Mileage Change Author: MPorter13, Location: North EastPosted: Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:40 am ---- ive been told they are a nightmare to do, really fiddly. spoke to a chap that said if anyone quotes your £50 to check to see if their work is warranted as the bsi needs to messed on with, if it goes wrong your car will become a shell, he said its not worth it but he will do it for £250 to cover his own back
