#1: Phase 2 lights in a Phase 1 206... Author: Mike_XS, Location: Southampton PostPosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 10:23 am

This may be a silly question.....butttt

When I installed my angel eyes, I found that they were a very tight squeeze. The backs of them pressed against the air con compressor and water bottle. I put this down to the fact they are after market.

But my question is, will phase 2 crystals fit straight in? Will there be plenty of room or does the phase 1 206 have less room for the headlights?

Cheers, Mike.

Will be fine

The will fit in the position fine. Angels do as well.

You need H7 connectors tho [if you don't have them already]

The 206 twin H7 crystal headlights will fit the same space as the H4 frosted ones.

Aircon compressor it attached to the sump so ive no idea what you think the light is touching? ? ? Confused

ABS unit lives behind the passenger side headlamp, do you mean that?

Do you have H7 wiring so the lights operate correctly?

I don't have any connectors, I hard wired the angels in. So I think I'm gonna have to have a play round when I manage to get a set of crystals.

You can buy the H7 connectors from Peugeot/Citreon

Wonder if you changed the headlight switch for the correct type if the H7's would then work correctly? Confused

The 2 relays are already there

Then you could just get a pair of the H7 connectors & solder / heatshrink them on to the car loom Cool

You need two 6541 J6 and six 6541 E6, totalling £7.78 Smile

I just chopped off all the orginal connectors and hardwired in to the angels, which came with a relay.

I'm just gonna start again I think and solder and heatshrink the new connectors on just like you say.

Its being looked in to but you MAY need to also change the headlamp stalk so the crystal lights work correctly.

The relays all already there, its getting them to work in the correct way Laughing

Lee will come up with the answer soonish Cool

Even though I got the angels to work correctly?

You only have 3 wires to power 2 x H7 bulbs with the crystals.

Both dipped & main beam have there own relay.

When you switch main beam on dipped beam is also meant to stay on.

At the moment your car as it had H4 frosted lights originally wont do this, we reckon you will need to change the headlamp switch to get the relays working correctly for crystals.

To change the switch? Laughing

Nope, 2 torx 20 screws remove the plastic trim around steering column, 2 x torx 10 screws secure the stalk, unclip then slide it out & unplug it.

Refitting is reversal of removal Laughing

Why would he need to change the switch? I put phase 2 crystals on when i had frosted and just had a relay harness. switches were fine.

Oh, just the stalk? Ah right. That's easy enough. So just having a phase two stalk will make both lights stay on?

No youll need to wire relays in. Or get the adapters with relays as some people sell

We think you might be able just to fit the H7 connectors and a stalk from like GTi, and they'll work like normal.

Without the need for any other relays or adapter.

Its a non plexed car.

The relays are already there, its just getting them working in the correct order.

I already have a relay harness for the angels, will this not work?

Did you try changing the headlamp stalk for one from a crystal equipped car?

Nope are they different??? They both push/pull the same direction the same times dont they?

Yes.

We reckon a crystal headlamp switch will operate the 2 relays in the correct way for the crystal lights.

Its a bit odd that Peugeot list 3 switches.

Single optic & NO front fogs ( not worried about this one in this thread )

Single optic with front fogs.

Double optic with front fogs.

Why list 2 different switches that look exactly the same on the outside Wink

We reckon there wired differently inside.

I see, are they cheap enough to buy new? I could always find one from a scrappy

Ow iv just read the start of page 1 and realised where you're coming from Laughing

Indeed if they list them then maybe so. But wouldnt one switch be for multiplexed cars and as his is preplexed, would it plug in and/or even work?

Would I not just have to get a pre-plexed phase 2 stalk then?

We are 99.9% certain it will work correctly on a non plexed 206 if the headlamp switch is changed along with the connector plugs for the headlamps.

I dont know anyone thats tried it, might be worth giving it a shot Laughing

Just make sure its the double optic type headlamp stalk.

why dont you just buy a wiring harness and do it properly instead of trying to cut corners in the hope it could possibly, potentially, maybe...perhaps work?

He doesn't have any connectors, so it would be pointless as he has nothing to plug them in to Laughing

Wiring diagram says it should work:

If the correct double optic headlamp stalk is fitted

&

The headlamp connector plugs are changed for the correct type.
