#1: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 10:13 am ---- hello peeps, me again, ive looked throu previous topics but cant find this issue, but im sure its in there somewhere lol.
qwik fit said they can sort it for £25 but said it might come back again, so im thinking if they can fix it, so can I.
any ideas chap?
also on the matrix front, on inspection i found it only had 1 bolt holding the pipes from bulk head to matrix, so now ive fitted 2 more im hoping this was the problem. i pulled carpet up and no rust under that, its got a very think coating of plastic stuck on under side of carpet so dont worry about puddles to much, its just a wet carpet

Start by checking the wiring under the seats if you have side airbags.
#3: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 10:26 am ---- Needs a scan else your p**sing in the wind.
Most likely needs a new com2000 unit

That is your response to everything though
Its most likely the wiring under one of the seats, it is a very common problem.

There is that i suppose
#7: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New ForestPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 10:38 am ---- It can also be a faulty Com2000 unit, likely to be that.
Airbag ECU, poor connection to the steering wheel airbag, wiring issue or seatbelt pre-tensioners.

#9: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 11:48 am ---- well thats confused me alright, dont think she has side bags? but ive only had her 2 days so might be wrong lol
nopt had drivers seat up yet, ill do that next day off, she needs a bloody good clean inside, looks like she was a kids playground for a while, i even found a spiderman sliper and an monster type action figure under passenger seat lol
i now know she was broken into a while ago, glass under seat, and car areal is cut.
#10: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 11:51 am ---- Green connector plug under each front seat will be for the side airbags IF they are fitted.
#11: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 12:01 pm ---- there was no wires under passenger seat, so no side bags then lol
#12: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 12:05 pm ---- If you could scan it with Peugeot planet / Citroen Lexia that would easily & very quickly point you in the right direction of the fault.
Its most likely the com2000 unit.
That's the complete light / wiper stalk assembly & steering wheel has to come of to change it, don't bother with a 2nd hand / used one, fit eithera new or a service exchange unit
Really need's a scan first to pinpoint the fault
#13: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 12:36 pm ---- are com2000 units much dosh?
#14: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: ukskater01, Location: sutton surrey/welwyn garden cityPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 12:47 pm ---- Mines pre plexed but I got mine scanned and it had an open circuit on the passenger airbag. When I got my alarm fitted the sparky hard wired the original plugs under the glovebox and it hasn't come back.
Try and get it scanned first, most garages should be able to do it or get someone in to do it for them
good luck!

Depends where you buy it from.
If your keeping the car for a while then a service exchange OR new unit is the best way.
Plenty of people around that sell new one's / refurbish them.

#19: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Sat Jan 15, 2011 9:47 am ---- Is the light flashing or solid?
Lee wrote:
Check your battery voltage
Check the alternator isn't under or over charging
Check the wires under the front seats [if you have side airbags]
Check the orange wire in the drivers fuse box is connected
Check the wire on the rear of the drivers airbag
Check the seat belt pretentioners
Check the connections to the airbag ECU under the ashtray carpet
Check the wire to the passengers airbag
Check the COM2000 connection [if your mux]
Try rebooting the BSI. Click the link in my sig for the guide on how to do it for your specific electrical system.
#20: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 8:56 am ---- solid, bloody hell thats a check list lol
#21: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:55 pm ---- Have the airbags or seat belt pretentioners gone off before?
Im sure a solid light means crash data
#22: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 3:19 pm ---- pass, only had the car a few days

It can also mean a loose connection.
Crash data is normally a flashing airbag light.
#24: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: skard, Location: UK - NorthPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 5:02 pm ---- i got a brand new com2000 on ebay for £35 delivered and fitted it myself, so there are bargains if you look in the right places at the right time!

#26: Re: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Wed Jan 19, 2011 4:02 pm ---- Mmmmm might have to look to see if there is even a bag there lol
also re-matrix, i changed the 2 O-rings today, seams to have sorted the leak out, so it looks like it wasnt the matrix, wonder how many have paid for a new matrix when it was only the little rings that were shagged?
