No worries lol, it is possible there's a crack in the head which is getting pressure tested on monday but im almost certain there's a problem with the block.

Not that i know of, im not entirely sure how it happened yet i orginally assumed it was the head gasket that failed, as the tell tale signs where there i.e. gunk in the coolant bottle, mayonaise on the underside of the rocker cover and it misfiring and genrerally not running right for a coupled of days before we checked for a head gasket failure. But since taking the head off and having the gasket looked at by some experienced mechanics they cant see a point at which it was failed, which lead them to believe it is either a cracked cylinder head or a problem with the block.

Thats as much as i know at the moment the heads ready to go to be pressure tested first thing on monday morning. So if that comes back clear then it points to a problem with the block.

The KFW was brought out around the same time as when multiplexing was introduced into the 206 range. It is was introduced in order to meet new emission levels [level 4 i think]. It also has a bigger compression ratio 10.5:1 [vs 10.2:1 on the other]. I uses a Sagem S 2000 ECU as well.

Thanks for that Lee, just one final question there's two options for engine code KFX, one with a Bosch injection system and one with a Magneti-Marelli system. The engine fitted currently is one with a Magneti-Marelli system would i have to find an engine with the same system fitted or are these parts interchangeable between the two engines?

They use different connectors on the ECU, so you would need to get the matching engine loom.

If you are using a different ECU, it needs to be coded to the BSI

Id defo say stick with a 1.4 just for the fact that it will be a straight swap, keeps tax and petrol costs down Very Happy

Would it not be possible to just disconnect all the sensors etc from my current engine and plug them back in on the new engine, i.e. just use the block and head but use all the electrics from the current engine or do these two different systems have more/less sensors etc?

Cheers mate its getting there, yeh i will just keep it as a 1.4 as its not worth the hassle of putting a bigger engine in due to as you said tax, petrol and insurance costs. Plus at the end of the day i only paid £350 for it, i just want to keep it running so i can get to work and back to earn some money Very Happy
