#1: When it rains, it pours!!! Author: chunkielad, Location: LeighPosted: Sun Jan 16, 2011 6:33 pm ---- Had my mate com round to do the clutch for me and it was a stinker but we got there - well we got half way there. After getting the gear box off we noticed that as the thrust bearing destroyed itself it dug a large groove in the trumpet over the input shaft. We had to put the car back on wheel over night (we were doing the repairs on the road) and I will have to get more parts.
No problem I thought, we will just come back to it tuesday when he is next free.
I turrned around and kicked over the gear box oil we had saved in a bottle at one side... then he said that he's popped the rubber out of one of the gear likages (the longest one) so I need to get one of them too....
then I notice a leak from the underside and after checking it out the clutch slave cylinder has a small leak. Nothing too serious to worry about but I might as well put a new one on while I am there....
Every time I touch the car it seems something else is going wrong.

Was gonna leave the slave cylinder to save a little cash and wait for it to go fully but it's better to have it right from day one I suppose.
I won't have to touch the clutch for a long time anyway!

Its not healthy to own a peugeot with at least one problem, they're never perfect and will break purposely to prove that if you try to get one 'mint'. They come out of the factory with an agenda!

I decided last year I would only ever buy German, Swedish or Japanese for the rest of my life. Then I saw the GTi and though 'you know what? That's nice - how bad can it be?' OOOOOPS!

They leak when you take them off because the shaft pops out past it's seal. Either disconnect the pipe, which is a quick fitting anyway or hold it in with some tape.

It had worn though half the springs on the pressure plate and was about to go through the last few.
