#1: Uz's SW. GT Front Arches Fitted. Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:26 pm ---- Car - Peugeot 206 20i HDi 'S'
Type - SW (Station Wagon)
Year - 2004 04 Reg
Mileage - 64,000
Dad bought it for me as a surprise as I kept going on about wanting to have one instead of the XSi 'Quiksilver' that I've recently finished.
The car was again bought from the Auction that my dad and me buy all our salvage cars from.
Pics of the car from the auction.
The car is a CAT C insurance damage and does have the following damage;
- Very Light Frontal Damage
- Passenger Side Suspension Damage
- Drivers Side Sill, A-Post & Door Damage
The mains reason for why I wanted a HDi SW over a SW or the XSi are;
- My little bro require special wheel chairs and seats which are far too big to fit in the boot of the XSi
- Also I will be travel to and from Uni everyday as of September and needed something more economical.
More to come...watch this space Last edited by Uz on Sat Sep 22, 2012 8:42 am; edited 8 times in total

#4: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:28 pm ---- I've recently bought a 206 GT Front Bumper (which are extremely rare to come by...lucky a chap I know had one who returned his car to standard). I wanted a GT front bumper as its longer then the standard bumper but felt that it would go nicely with the shape of the car and also the longer rear bumper.
Pics of the side profile of the bumper...just put on the car.
Also bought a pair of GTi 'Flared' Front Wings for the car from a GTi180. I wanted to go with the wider GTi wings then the standard wings or the GT wings as I'm looking to run wide wheels on the car and I didn't want problems with the wheels protruding the wings.
Won't really be able to tell the different between the two wings from that pic but the GTi wing does have a bulge in it to give it a more flared look to it.
I'm also looking at some coilovers for the car which I should hopefully have sorted out by the end of the week. Also Dad's picking up the mechanical parts needed to be fitted to the car so I move it around...making it easier to work on.
#5: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: wagsy206, Location: Coatbridge, LanarkshirePosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:29 pm ---- number what of 1??? hmmm. lol
glad to see youre getting the project thread back on the go man. ill need to get mine all done and back up. ill be looking forward to seeing the progress pics of the car again. built not bought to the extreme
#6: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:29 pm ---- I've decided that I want the black plastic that is at the top of the tailgate sprayed to the same colour of the car.
Also debadged the tailgate today;
Before;
When taking the lion of the tailgate I found that it was held in place by two prongs and left 2 holes in the bootlid so I'm going to be spraying that up so that it matches the front badge in gloss black and put it back on.
Holes in tailgate;
After;
I also stripped down the dash to remove the centre console which was looking abit sorry for itself.
So I'm going to rub that down and get them colour coded to the car.
Also got one of the badges that I sprayed up the other day and slightest messed up and rubbed down all the bits I've got together; the tailgate lion badge, dash centre, front lion.
Now that they are all rubbed down I am going to be getting them done in Gloss Black. Just waiting on a strip from Peugeot for the roof so I can do the lot all at once.
The centre console will not be getting done by myself unless I can get a moonstone blue can from halfords.
#7: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:30 pm ---- Got the black vinyl strips off the car today. The handle in the rear door stands out like a sore thumb now but I am going to sort that all out. I'm having gloss black vinyl strips done for the doors and also going to be having the rear handles sprayed up in gloss black so they blend in.
Decided seeing as I still had abit of plastic primer and gloss black in the cans from doing my badges on the XSi I thought I'd have a look at what the boot badge looks like in gloss black.
In one coat of primer
one coat of gloss black
waited for it to harden up and took it and just put it into the hole to get this pics and I quiet like it.
The strip on the rear bumper which is going to also be done in gloss black.
taken off the bumper
I'm going to pop up to Halfords a little later on today to get my supplies of Plastic Filler Primer, Grey Plastic Primer, Gloss Black Paint & Clear Lacquer.
The badge has been rubbed back down to be done properly now that the decision of gloss black over satin black has been made.
#8: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:31 pm ---- Got the wipers off with great stuggle and also the scuttle cover.
Then got the car up on axle.
Once up I got the wheels off and got some better pics of the damage to the subframe and passenger side suspension.
Kink in subframe (will get a comparison pic of the other side to show you the difference).
Tie rod snapped clean in half.
Then got the undertray off to find it's f****d so a replacement is going to be needed. Also have it a tidy up underneath removing all the mud that was stuck in there from the accident.
And this is how the car stood at the end of play today.
Dad's going to try and pick up all the bits needed and also arranging to pick up a coilover kit :D.
#9: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:33 pm ---- Dad picked up the door he had bought from a scrappy so got that changed over. While he picked up the door he order the complete subframe setup.
New door on the car
Old door
Dad picked up the front subframe so that ready to be swapped over. Just need the inverted torx sockets for the bolts. Dad also bought the passenger half of the steering rack to replace the whole side over.
this pic shows you the difference between the two subframes showing how much damage has actually been done to the original one.
Also with alot of persuasion and also a helping hand from a hack saw I got the old broken tie rod off.
Ready for replacement to go on
More updates to come over the next couple of days.
Also looking at Porsche Design 90s as a possible wheel for the car. I'm really wanting 8Jx16" all round but might settle for a staggered set of 7J (front) & 8J (rear).
Custom PCD convertors are going to set me back £245 if I do have them.
While I'm looking at them I'm also looking at possible wheel colour etc...possibly gloss black and moonstone or grey and moonstone.
#10: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:33 pm ---- Yeh there are updates...haven't been able to post anything up as I've been having problems with paypal so couldn't pay for the forum membership.
Anyway this is whats happened since the last update;
Well got the subframe changed over.
But found out when putting the wishbone back in the strut I found out that the driveshaft was fubared.
this halfs still in the gearbox
Also changed over the passenger side of the steering rack.
(need to upload pics)
Managed to borrow a socket to take the driveshaft bolt out...so got the driveshaft out.
both ends out.
Waiting on my dad to pick up a replacement driveshaft and this car will be mechanically finished.
Since this update...dad's bought 3 different driveshafts each being fubared or the wrong ones even though we've told the scrapyard which one we need. Anyway were now waiting on getting the original repaired.
Also hopefully have a deal done on a set of wheels...all will be reveiled if all goes to plans.
#11: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:34 pm ---- Bit of an update...
The original passenger side drive shaft + the other two drive shafts are now at Shelley Transmission in Wolverhampton to be built into one full working drive shaft. Dads had loads of work done from them in the past so shouldn't be a problem and should be ready for next week.
I'm also looking at various different colourway possibilities for the wheels I'm hopefully getting as the wheels have recently been involved in a hit and run incident where the insurance company has had them refurbed but the backs (which were the ones repaired) have not been finished in the same way.
Was looking at going sort of Moonstone Blue face with Satin Black accents (these will match the other satin black bits around the car) and a polished dish.
All comments and Suggestions welcome.
#12: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:34 pm ---- Car is now on all fours it's taken a while and a lot of f'ing and r'ing but it's ready to go to the bodywork...well once it's got the driveshaft tightened up and gearbox oil in.
But yeh Shelley charged my dad £20 to have the original driveshaft completely refurbed...BARGAIN :D. That was new boot, complete regrease, new abs tooth ring, and new ball bearing. Anyway got it home and got it fitted and got everything together and on all fours.
Refurbed driveshaft
Everything back together
On all fours
Passenger side wheels sitting how it should.
Going to get the gearbox oil in tomorrow and get the driveshaft tightened up. Then get the Rallye steel swapped over for the nimrod and give it a good clean over.
Hopefully should be getting some paint tomorrow and get on with some spraying with the badges etc.
All comments welcome.
#13: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:34 pm ---- Some better pics of the car being on all fours.
Also got the rear dewipered today...took awhile but managed to get it done. Covered the hole up with electric tape for the time being but looking for a de wiper screw grommet big enough for the hole.
What does everyone think of the back end without the wiper?
#14: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:35 pm ---- MAMs the word :D :D
only pic at the moment...will get some more tomorrow when I've put the backs on so I can see how much I'm going to drop it by.
#15: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:35 pm ---- Some pics of the wheels on the car.
Now that the wheels are on I am going to have to get some spacers to sit the back wheels out abit more on the arch...get the arches rolled aswell.
Will be doing a few photoshop to see what height looks best.
#16: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:36 pm ---- Got the centre console sprayed up...not exactly how I wanted it but for now it'll do. Will be getting it back out and doing a bette job of it.
Got it all scotched down to key up the primer.
First coat of gloss black;
waited about 10 mins or so to let them air dry off and took them inside to set the paint with abit of heat, on this occasion a hair drier lol.
Got them scotched back down lightly for a second coat
Second coat of gloss black;
Did the same again but no scotched up but did harden paint with hairdryer.
Then I gave the whole lot a coat of laquer while laquering I managed to get a drip :@
Got the laquer hard...spot scotched it down and the just gloss black and relaquered it.
Once everything was set I got the centre console into the car.
Also need to get hold of the Engine cover supports as two are damaged...might aswell change all 4 to the newer version.
#17: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:36 pm ---- Not at all mate...was taken on my mobile phone. Will get some better ones.
Bit more of an update.
Trying to source the bits to change the heating controls over from manual to the gti version controls. Also I've decided that I'm going to have a go at making a set of rear SP arches fit the SW so that it doesn't overhang on to the bumper.
Bascially I'm going to take the arches and cut them down to where it end and then join the end that fits into the seam where the bumper and body meet together making it shorter.
Should be interested in what they come out like...will also allow me to bring the wheels out abit further even more.
Also in need of a set of GTi SP front arches as I'm possibly going to sit the front wheels out abit to.
Also going to be spraying up a few more bits in gloss black weather permitted. These include;
Also getting a deal on a set of Moonstone Masked Valeo Crystal Headlights =D.
These are what they look like;
#18: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:38 pm ---- I've picked up a set of Moonstone masked Valeo headlights.
Also I've ditched the SP rear arches as I didn't like them on the car. Also I've ordered new modified engine cover dampers from Peugeot at the cost of £20 :O.
Also getting quotes from places to get that money pornoflague vinyl done for the bonnet.
Worked out how to put the headlight height adjuster in and also how to take them out of the damaged lights.
Once getting a pair out I managed to get them in and set right at head on position.
I then put one into the car to see what they are like.
They look really look at the colour match between the two is pretty much perfect :).
Need someone who can adjust my rear beam with the MAMs on the back so I can go out and get my arches rolled and also get the spacers to get them set out.
If anyone who can adjust my beam and can come out please let me know. I'm willing to cover cost of petrol
#19: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:39 pm ---- Peugeot = theiving basqwards :@
£19.20 inc. vat for 4 dampers for the HDi engine cover :@
Anyway had to happen as mine had broken, ordered them on Thursday and picked them up today.
Got them fitted...note that the damper in the top right hand corner had to be moved as I screwed it in the wrong place lol. Is meant to be in the gold sort of area just down from it.
Once that was sorted got all the dampers tightened up and got the engine cover back on...will be having a little tinker around with the engine cover...possibly spraying to match the car or applying a vinyl wrap.
Also got a better pic of the centre console which I sprayed up the other day.
#20: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:39 pm ---- Decided I want a set of winter wheels for the car as I don't want to damage the MAMs and seeing as I've got a set of 16" Nimrods I've started refurbing them in Gloss Black.
Got one of them in Gloss Black. Going to get the centre caps done aswell tomorrow after work.
Probably going to get them wrapped in Toyo T1-R 195/45 tyres (toyos seem to give stretch on the tyre walls) or maybe 205/45 Parada Spec 2 tyres.
going to tyre and get a light blue rimtape to match as close as possible to the colour of the car to break the black up abit between wheel and tyre.
#21: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:40 pm ---- Got the cente caps for the nimrods into their first coat of gloss black...was about to put a secong coat on but it started raining.
In Primer
Waited for about half hour just for the primer to set and then got the first coat of gloss black on
Left them to dry outside while I went to pick up my sister. While I was out it started raining but only lightly. Got home to having abit of beading on the paint. It's hard so going to get a second coat on inabit indoors.
Also 6 quid bought me this genuine 206 keyring from Peugeot in France as they no longer sell these over here. Was bought from a chap on 206info.
#22: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:40 pm ---- Well after alot of thinking and also the Student Loan Company still not having paid my Student Loan I've had to put the MAMs up for sale :'( GUTTED!
But if I do get the loan through the wheels won't be going nowhere
But if they do sell...the Nimrods will be going on as the wheels. Powdercoated in Gloss Black with a cheeky touch as long as I can get hold of what I need to do it.
I'm getting an Ecosse Abbes Boot Fill and also a set of Raceland Coilovers.
While in the bodyshop the car will be having all four of the arches rolled as much as possible to stop the tyres catching on the lips when the cars down.
I'm currently trying to get hold of some 15mm hubcentric spacers for the Nimrods as I'm going to be setting them out onto the arch and getting some tyres stretched onto them...possibly 175/50.
#23: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:41 pm ---- Got all the doorcards and glovebox stripped down to day.
Drivers front door shell
Centre and material
Rear drivers door shell
centre and material
Glovebox door
Got all four of the centres stripped down and taking the material down to a local clothes specialist as they've got leatherette available so going to see how much I need etc.
The centres atm;
#24: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:41 pm ---- Managed to get the best quality leatherette I could get yet also getting it as think as I could, which would make it easy for applying to the bases.
Pics do it no justice but managed to get 2 metre in length for £7.
Lad at the counter only charged me for 1 metre lol
So going to get about getting them done tomorrow...get the shapes need cut tonight ready etc.
Poppin down to B&Q to get hold of some strong spray adhesive for this aswell.
#25: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:42 pm ---- bit of an update;
Door cards #1; Drivers front retrimmed.
Had a slight accident and ripped abit but nothing noticeable. Also using a template is not a good idea as the leatherette is a completely different material to the cloth so always have a bigger piece to work with.
Anway pic;
no join as said I'm happy with the result for a first attempt.
#26: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:42 pm ---- Glovebox door face done...just needs putting back together

Bought a set of Raceland ones for £155 delivered off ebay
Doorcards are all done now...just need rebuilding up
Dad's going to be getting the hot glue and gun tomorrow to make them all back up
Last two finished.
Passenger side front
Passenger side rear
All together
Still got well over a metre worth of leatherette left over. Maybe get some cheap 2 door doorcards and do them to sell maybe.
#29: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:46 pm ---- Anway before I forget. The reason I'm doing these doorcards is so they match my Leather seat.
I've taken them out of the XSi and they will be going into here
Doorcards are now completed
Sorry about the naff pics.
Front Doorcard
Rear Doorcard
Let me know what you think
#30: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:48 pm ---- Thanks for the comments guys
My Raceland coilovers arrived today from Belgium going to give the beam a go and also get these in over the xmas holidays.
Started building up the debadged grille today. As it stands at the moment.
Didn't get any during pics as I just not in the mood atm. I've attached the centre piece to the grille using no nails. Waiting for that to go off so I can get on and finished up ready for the bodyshop.
I've got it held down with masking tape so the piece doesn't move. Hopefully should be hard tomorrow so I can press on and get it done.
Both of the rear doorcards went in today.
Look wicked. Pic of the passenger side one.
Front will go in once cars sprayed and done.
Got some more pics...glovebox door and passenger side door cards in. Also some pics of how the car stands at the moment.
I don't know what the brown marks are :S but they aren't on the doorcards themselves.
#31: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:48 pm ----
Charcoal Faux Suede...3 Metres worth as it to cover the rood lining and pillar covers.
Anyway...
How cold does it wanna be :@
Tried to get the interior stripped to get the pillar covers and the rooflinings off. But only managed to get the a and b pillars off and also got bits like grab handles and stuff off the roof.
The C Covers can't be done as they are really intrecate. May have a go if we've got any material let over.
#32: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:50 pm ---- Gloss Black 16" Nimrods
Would have loved to get some flush valves but with the wheels it can't be done as they've got like a area which is set in which wouldn't let the valves to be used.
Centre caps are going to be done by the bodyshop so I can professional finish on them and look right. I'm going to be getting the lion done in moonstone blue.
Was p**sing around with the camera earlier and has polished and waxed up one of the wheels so decided to try and get some pics of it. Only managed to get one just to show you the quality of the finish.
I think the boot fill will definately get done but not just yet as I've not got the money I've decided that after looking at the pic of the moonstone blue sw with the bootfill I'll definately be getting colour coded side strips etc.
Once the car goes into the bodyshop it will be having the following things done to it as well as the repairs and colour coding;
- Gloss Black GT Bumper Grille
- Gloss Black Rof Gutter Strips
- Gloss Black Roof Racks
- SW Badge to be refinished in Gloss Black
- Tailgate Peugeot Lion badge done in Gloss Black
- Gloss Black Mirrors (Mirror caps staying Moonstone Blue)
- Moonstone Blue Rear Bumper Cover
+ more...may take the fogs apart and do them in Gloss Black aswell. Last edited by Uz on Fri Jul 16, 2010 2:25 am; edited 1 time in total

We've managed to get the grille sorted now. Going to be gettin it all cleaned up etc and get a final layer of filler on it so it's all smooth etc.Try and get it done to the best of our ability so that it's less work for the guys at the bodyshop.
Nimrods are up for sale @ £275 as I need the money for Uni once again as my student loan still hasn't come through But like I said before the money from my MAMs and also these will come straight out of my student loan and go toward a set of wheels that I want.
I am looking around and tbh I'm still sort of looking at keeping it OEM so Nimrods are the favourites atm.
Also...
Just won a beige SW load cover for the bargain sum of £36.72
A bit of a bargain even if it did have a small tear in it.
#34: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:52 pm ---- Load cover arrived last week just need to give it a good clean and I'll get some pics.
Also I managed to get the centre caps completely rubbed down to the bare plastic and then rebuild them up in gloss black. Didn't get any during pics as my dad did them while I was at work.
Some pics of the finished products.
All comments welcome.
#35: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:52 pm ---- Bit of an update
Got the fog lights out of the bumper today so I can get them opened up and get the insides sprayed gloss black. The SW doesn't have the wiring loom for the fog lights so the lights will just be there for show unless my dad can get hold of the loom for them and I will wire them into the side lights.
Passenger wing went on so I could make some room in the car as I'm in the middle of stripping the interior out for the roof & pillar cover retrim but also as I'm going to be replacing it for my leathers.
Also pic of the load cover that I bought the other week.
I will get some updates as soon as the cars stripped out and we've managed to work out what where going to be using for getting the suede to stick to the lining and covers.
#36: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:53 pm ---- Well as everyone knows I've been wanting a set of D90s for this since the day I've had it and since selling the MAMs and the Nimrods I've been doing abit of research on the D90s.
I found that I wanted 8J all rounds which had a offset of ET55 which would immediately mean that I needed a 40mm width adapter for them to be brought out to ET15...no problems I thought.
Now I'd asked about it on here for the hub adapters but thought I'd find out from a specialist about them. Stud patterns of 4x108 (Pug PCD) and 5x130 (Porka PCD) are very close to one another and that they may have to be custom made.
Well was quoted £250 for a set of 4 hubcentric hub adapters with the shallow head bolts to bolt them the hub and use original Porka bolts to bolt the D90s to the adapters.
Got a message of the wheel specialist saying that they can be made but there's a possibility of them being stucturally unsafe with bolt holes being very close to one another making the adapters possibly weak at certain between the holes.
He's still trying to find out about them but if they can be done with structural safety as the main point then I'll buy a set of D90s and have them made but otherwise it's a no goer.
I'm also trying to get hold of a set of GTi180 17" Vortex wheels which I will have powdercoated in Gloss Black and have stretched tyres fitted on them as I was going to do with the Nimrods. Also buy the Black nut covers and bolt in black valves. I will also be getting a set of 10mm spacers to set these out onto the arch.
So lets see how things go.

I then got the standard handbrake swapped over with a GTi handbrake which has the brushed metal button on it.
Also got the centre console out as I'm going get it completely redone in gloss black as there's quite a few imprefections in it atm.

Bit of an update
Uz, is there anything else that holds the fogs in the bumper?? are there any part numbers on them. im only asking to see if there are any differences between them and sports or non-sports fogs.

I am still contemplating on them but have seen the MAM MT2 wheels so I'm kinda all over the place atm.
All wheel suggestions welcome guys
#45: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Ross, Location: West MidlandsPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 7:17 pm ---- The MT2's aren't bad but wouldn't be my choice personally as I don't think it would look as unique as it could on the Mono's. I think if you pull the Mono's off it could look pretty special, just think you'd need to nail it in the lowering department though, and combined with a little stretch and poke it could look properly cool.... basically get the stance right and it'll be epic. You gonna have the arches rolled?
#46: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Ross, Location: West MidlandsPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 7:24 pm ---- Porsche D90's or the 928's could look sweet too, smooth like the Mono's and 16" (think both can be had in 8J too... I think). You'd need adapters aswell though obviously.

Student loans still not come through and I've got no money to spend on it anymore as all the money I had has been spent on my Uni stuff.
Left to do;
- get into bodyshop for;
- repair sill & a post, jig, replace passenger side light panel and repair pass. side front arch.
- Spray up exactly how I want it.
- retrim roof and a pillars
- fit interior and rebuild remainder of car
- lower rear beam & fit coilovers
- choose and buy wheels
- full service
- vic and mot
other then that it'll just be the little bits and pieces to be done.

Got it rubbed down to get off all the dimples from the moulds and then got it into filler primer.
In Primer;
Also got the centre console scotched down as there were imprefections in it so going to get it sprayed back up in gloss black.
#57: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Fri Feb 12, 2010 12:00 pm ---- I had a bit of an idea...seeing as I'm doing my dash centre in Gloss Black I though why not do my door handle surrounds and corner dash vents the same.
I did have a set of GTi180 corner vents which I bought as I thought I'd buy each bit seperately as I couldn't justify the prices of the the parts all at once. But those are up for sale.
Anyway got the surrounds scotched up ready for primer and paint.
Took the vents appart (I also found out that the face of the vents came off so I took them off to spray up)
Vents in Primer (didn't get a pic of them in filer primer) & surrounds in Filler primer);
Then got the surrounds in Primer;
After that I started on finishing up the grille so mixed up some filler and started to get the centre finished up as there were still some bumps and ridges.
Just waiting for it to harden then gunna get it rubbed down perfect

Cheers mate
My undertray is completely mashed as a result of the accident and I didn't get a tray with the bumper so I'm going to be getting a metal tray made up running the length that the GT tray and also the sump guard would run and have it spread out to the width of bumper as the standard or sports wheel arch lining don't go out to as long as the bumper.
I'm going to try and get it up on a ramp and get a template made and get it made up and bolt it to the original mounting points. Will also kinda help with the car being low as it'll protect the sump lol.

The 205 GTi wheels I had for the XSi done over this week in gloss white and picked them up yesterday. Got 4 matching Bridgestone Turanza 195/50 R15 tyres and got them swapped over with the RS wheels.
RS wheels will be going on this for the time being so I'm going to get them refurbed but am still deciding on what colour to have them powdercoated. I'm going to be also getting custom centre caps done to match the SWGT badges I've got.
They will be in a gel bubble with a background to match colour of the wheels, moonstone blue pug lion with a silver SW and red GT going through the middle.
I'm also hopefully picking up some 20mm hubcentric spacers off Jamie when I drop the wheels off so the wheels will be sitting at a whoppin ET10 POKE FTW
Any ideas on what colour I should have them done?
#70: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Thu Feb 25, 2010 6:52 am ---- It's been a week since I last updated this so here goes.
Bought some a pair of 20mm spacers off Jamie (still owe him a fiver for them). Got home and got them on but when I put the RS wheels on and tightened up the bolts the wheels were still loose and i could shake them about. Luckily I had a set of 5mm shims sitting around so I popped those on and job was a good'un I know it's probably not safe...someone please let me know if it is or isn't as the wheels still sitting on the hubcentric spigot.
20mm spacer + 5mm shims
Anyway I had intended on the wheels sitting at ET10 once these spacers went on but are now sitting at ET5
I popped the spacers on down one side so I could get an idea and compare them to the other without any spacers. Massive difference.
Passenger side with spacers fitted
Drivers side without spacers fitted
Also I measured up the height with the 17" fitted and I got readings on the back of 38cm between the bottom of the arch to the centre of the hub. I plan on dropping it down to about 28cm to get a decent sitting on it so that'll be about 100mm On the front I got reading again bottom of the wing to the centre of the hub of 40cm. I plan of dropping it to about 30cm again 100mm drop
I think I need some bigger brakes in the front so might seeing how things go pop my 4pot on here just so the brakes don't look swamped in the wheels lol.

I'm over the moon with the loan coming through now
With regards to the colour once I get the car into the bodyshop the chap will be respraying the whole front end of the car including front two doors. He will also be colour coding all the side strips. I did want to have a gloss black roof on the car but it's going to cost too much money. Even though I've had my loan come through I still wanna sort of keep to a budget. So I'm just keeping things simple. Also he will be doing the roof bars, bumper grille, mirrors (not the caps) and also the gutter strips in gloss black and also the rear peugeot badge.
I'm also having all the interior bits that I was spraying up done by him so I can have everything perfect.
Does anyone have any ideas for the car? Still look at idea of colours for the wheels. Stuck between gloss white, gloss black, anthracite or gunmetal grey.
#76: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Quarmbo, Location: Bristol & LeicesterPosted: Thu Feb 25, 2010 8:40 am ---- I'd go gloss black, simply because it looked awesome on those nimmies. #77: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Thu Feb 25, 2010 9:14 am ---- Yeh I think I'm gunna go with the Gloss Black with these wheels.
I'm going to be getting custom centre gel badges made.
I'm having a gloss black background with a moonstone blue peugeot lion 'outline' and then having SWGT at an angle running across the centre of the badge with the SW in silver and the GT in red and in exactly the same font as the badges.
Getting a design done and then if it looks good I'm gunna get them made up

#80: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: WilkyGTi, Location: Cumbria, UKPosted: Thu Feb 25, 2010 3:37 pm ---- As far as the wheel nuts are concerned, i was always told it was 1.5 times the diameter, so if it was 10mm bolt/stud, you'd need 15mm of thread doing something, i had the same problem on my old fiesta, i checked the torque regularly and they were fine.
#81: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Thu Feb 25, 2010 3:49 pm ---- When I took the bolts back out of the spacer that were holding the wheels and it was literally 5mm off thread that wasn't going in. Why don't you get the bonnet wrapped (like the new mini's are quite often)? Maybe be less 'in your face' than a bonnet bra!

Took the old standard interior out and fitted my leathers. I've left the drivers standard seats in as I don't want it getting damaged while the cars being repaired. Also just generally gave the car a tidy inside just so it's easier to work in.
The leathers just got dust on it. Also the match between the seats and the faux leather doorcards is pretty much spot on
Just to compare the two...not the best pic but you get the idea.
#89: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Quarmbo, Location: Bristol & LeicesterPosted: Fri Feb 26, 2010 5:31 am ---- Looks awesome mate. I was slightly dubious about the mass of leather in there, but its looking pretty good! You should do leather door interior as a little side job, I bet there'd be a few people who'd want some doing.
#90: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Fri Feb 26, 2010 6:51 am ---- there's not alot of leather just the seats and doorcards. Roof lining and A+B pillar covers are being done in Suede. I was thinking about doing the doorcards in leather and suede as I'll have load of material left over after I've finished trimming all the stuff of my car.
I did ask on here about leather doorcards and glovebox door before the site went down and everyone were saying that it'd be too expensive so I'm not going to bother and keep the material just incase I fancy a change or come up with an idea.

I was going to charge £200 all in for the set.
These would include;
- 4 doorcards (3 or 5 door)

and then they would be retrimmed in either faux suede or faux leather (selection of colours available) and this would also cover the cost of materials and time taken as my dad and me would be doing them.

They didn't give me a price as I pay on collection...but the price I was given on my wanted thread it's under £60 so I'm happy. I might use it for a little while in my XSi as I always have my right arm suspended in mid air during long journeys lol.

Yeh sorry I do mean my left arm just not thinking when I was typing lol. Maybe I need to learn my left and right lol. But yeh there are aftermarket ones which are £60+ on eBay from what I've seen and been told. Thought seeing as I'm keeping the car as OEM as possible I might aswell get a OEM armrest.

Thanks Iain Still got a long way to go but I'm hoping to get it into bodyshop this weekend.

The Headlinings still do be done but the a & b pillar covers are now done and ready to go in. Headlining is going to be done one of the evenings this week so all the interior can be in before it goes off to the bodyshop.
Yeh the GT bumper is finally going on Have had to take it off as I don't trust the bumper being on the car as it is as it could get nicked (have had stuff nicked from the driveway in the past )
I'm about 90% sure the car will look alot nicer with it on with the RS wheels once it's sitting on its back side. But the wheels are only temp as I'm waiting on this deal to go through on the new wheels
But get that bumper on...me wants to see what yours looks like with the bumper on You managed to get all the side strips and also the rear bumper mouldings done?
#101: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: wagsy206, Location: Coatbridge, LanarkshirePosted: Mon Mar 01, 2010 1:54 pm ---- havent got the rear mouldings done. i just had a spare set of side strips, and i painted them months ago, but just havent fitted them.
the mesh has been bodged on just now, just so i could see how it would look meshed. but i want to see it on the car . so while the other half is at her lunch with her workmates, ill throw it on and get some pictures .
hope you get it all done and sorted man. it'll look good when its all back together .
#102: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 4:23 am ---- Cheers Wagsy
Last couple of days I've had abit of time to work on the car so thought might aswell work on the badgeless grille.
I got in all even etc and have got it into a coat of filler primer so I can get back and sand it down so I can get rid of all the crevises that have been created. I've still got abit of a way to go with this...but this is how it looked earlier.

Headrests are leather.
#105: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:27 pm ---- After having a headache from the spray and rubbing down etc I sat down for a while and looked through a few possible options for wheels seeing as it's very highly unlikely that I'm going to getting my MAMs back anytime soon.
A few options. Bare in mind I have put down a deposit on a set of wheels but they'll only be made if a run with enough orders go through.
These are my options
Keskin KT1 - 7.5Jx16" ET20
Keskin KT4 'New Racer' - 7.5Jx16" ET20
Borbet A (Flush Centres) - 7.5Jx16" ET20
What does everyone else think?...any alternative ideas please let me know
#106: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Ruffy_206, Location: BristolPosted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:33 pm ---- the first ones jamie had a paid of these iirc
#107: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:49 pm ---- I think with the KT1 I'm still sort of deciding on whether I want to go 7.5J front 9J back and get the arch work done now or just get 7.5J all round and get 9J rears next year when I do a colour change.
#108: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 5:10 pm ---- Quick update. I've been told morettes aren't fetching a fat lot anymore so I thought if I can't shift my morettes I'm keeping them for this as my everyday lights so these can get bashed etc and I'll keep my Valeos for Photoshoots, meets and shows.
I've spend alot of time and money on these to get these to how they are now...and apart from a 3mm big piece missing from one of the corners the lights are mint.
The morettes as they stand;
I'll get the chap at the bodyshop to get them sprayed up in Gloss Black to get some contrast going on and also so they match all the other gloss black bits going outside.

#110: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 5:24 pm ---- Dan...get Borbets as they are the bottom of my list. Plus if you get them they'll come straight off my list
#111: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 6:48 am ---- If I can get the rear arches without having to have them resprayed so they look like this;
I can get some 9J rear wheels and then I'll have more of a selection to choose from.
#112: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 7:46 am ---- Just wacked the morettes in the car along with the GT bumper and smoothed grille. Also swapped the spacers I had on the front for the back and this is how it looks.
Is it just me or do the RS wheels look quite nice on the side profile
Also photoshopped the side profile pic so I could get an idea of how I want it to sit with the coilovers and torsion bars setup.

Thats mate I'm gunna get my dad to have a read of the how to on the rear beam adjustment and if he thinks he can do it then it will hopefully done on Saturday. I really need to order this boot fill...just waiting for the payment to come through. I think the back end will look alot better and also complete especially with how the bumper ends.
I'm also toying with the idea of having just the side strips done in gloss black to match the rest of the gloss black bits and maybe break it all up abit more.
