About the doorcard backing moulds for the leatherette in your door, are they really made of fiberglass? I've heard that stuff is dangerous

Sorry when I wrote metal I actually meant Aluminium (like a 2mm sheet).
Yeh pop up mate...be nice to catch up and have a word about the stuff your looking at doing and see if we can help in anyway
Roofs not been done yet due to the weather not being right for doing it atm as I need to do it outside as I need alot of space.
I'm looking into what to do with the sunvisors but I am replacing them for 406 lit ones but I will still be looking into it
Ah aluminium 2mm sheet sound perfect mate but its would need to be made a shape? I have a undertray maybe could use it as copy it the shape from it? I currently got it off due to some garage be lazy to putting back properly!
Sweet no problem I shall letting you know when I am coming up and catch up with you then.

I think they're made of fibreglass sort of the same sort of thing if you get what I mean. Fibreglass isn't dangerous at all. It's what everyone uses for there custom moulds.

The aluminium sheet will have to be shaped but it will be done differently to your car due to the bumper.
Grab handles...hmmm. I'm either going to be spraying the original ones in gloss black or getting a set of Quiksilver grab handles and fitting those.
Think I might go with the first option as I can get them sprayed professionally.
But I've had the stickers come through and they are wicked. I'm going to be ordering a few more. One being 'Built. Not Bought' which I will put in the corner of the window. Also going to be getting 'No Fat Chicks'. Both will be gloss black and applied once the cars finished.

Fibreglass being dangerous? In what way? I only know fibreglass being dangerous in three ways:
1) getting a fibre in your eye (will put a scratch on your cornea)
2) breathing in sprayed fibreglass (damage could be like Asbestos)
3) your smoking fibreglass (really nasty fumes)
It would also mean the Reliant Robins and Scimitars would be death traps..... oh wait they already were!
Uz - have you got your armrest fitted yet? We will need to meet up again to sort out wing mirrors.

#159: Re: Uz's SWGT No.1 of 1...updates =] Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Fri Mar 12, 2010 5:56 pm ---- I heard that breathing in fiberglass particles can be a cancer risk, was hoping that it wasn't really made of fiberglass!

Only if your spraying it. In which case you should be wearing a gas mask and eye protection. Its a bit like using MDF you need to be taking the appropriate measures.
Vanman - that sounds brilliant!

I have spoken to my dad about it and it would be better if I had it flocked. But I need to first get hold of a non-airbag passenger section where the airbag is on my car.
Also roof is refitted and everything is back on.
I've decided that I'm going to keep all the plastics white as it's a nice contrast between the blue tint of the suede on the roof I'm also going to try and get hold of a GTi courtesy light with the map reading lights.
Join between the roof and b-pillar
Plastics on the suede
Load cover in
Also found the grille had cracked so it's time I just buy one thats already done.
