Thanks Guys...Gooch, it's taken me nearly 2 years to get it to where it is now bud. Wish I'd have managed to get it on the road sooner as I wanted it at shows but just means now that I've got longer to get it perfect ready for next show season.

Bit more of an update...

as some of you know I've got a GTi 180 interior which I managed to pick up extremely extremely cheap which I'm hopefully having arrive this week. I've had some 4 door alcantara doorcards and glovebox door from Raz so will be a nice pair up there. Also I've ordered Grey alcanatara/suede to match the doorcards which I'll be using to wrap the rooflining, a & b pillar covers and also the fuseboard cover as well as the airbag control surround. At the same time I'll have the Rear Pillar Covers whipped out and sprayed in Black to match the black plastics.

Also been working on the engine cover today getting it all smoothed up ready to be sprayed up in Purple Velvet to match the colour scheme.

filled...

smoothed...

Still got a bit of fettling to do with the longer strip but hopefully get that sorted with another skim in the morning. More updates to come in tomorrow.

Bit of an update, but first this pic had to be taken just to show how the car is currently standing height wise etc on the MAMs.

But I've had a set of DTM Cup mirrors arrive from Mattig which I intend on fitting to this;

Got chunky base plates arrive for them any day now direct from Mattig in Germany at the cost of 63 euros inc. delivery. So as soon as they arrive going to get those all prep'd up and wrapped in leather. Once they're wrap'd I'll fix the mirror and get them on the car. Mirrors are being sprayed Moonstone Blue.

My GTi180 interior arrived today Very Happy just a sneak peek at the front seats...

This beats any bargain of the century imo, a tiny bit of bobbling on drivers seat but otherwise the seats are like new.

Stripping the interior out for the big overhaul and rebuild with the new interior going in inc. doorcards and also going to be spraying up the rear pillar covers in Black to match the plastic.

I've got suede arriving which matches the doorcards next week so I'll get getting a few bits wrapped up ready to go in.

But keep an eye over the next couple of days as I'll be mainly aiming at getting the majority of the interior in and finished.

Aim to have this car on the road, VIC tested, MOT'd, TAX'd and insured by the 29th September...aka My Birthday.

What time is it..? Update time.

Anyway, I'm in the middle of fully modifying the centre console. The idea is that I'm cutting out the mounting bracket for the hazard button and moving it down to the ash tray top which will be welded shut.

The top of the centre console is being cut and being flushed so it's smooth and flows with the lines of the dashboard. The MFD is still being use but being moved to the dash in a custom build with the head unit. Yes I just said headunit lol. I'm smoothing off the vents in the lower section, along with the headunit enclosure. Reason being is I want to do something a little different and the headunit will only be used to power the audio but I will not be using it for anything else. All will be revealed with regards to the set up soon enough Smile

Also I need to get the steering cowling made up consisting of a phase 1 phase 2 hybrid jobbie, which will be tricky to get perfect but needs to be done to get the oem look perfect.

A continuation of yesterday...started on the moving of the hazard setup to the ashtray.

I've cut the bottom of the ashtray out and also cut the hazard holder out of the top section....

The idea is that it will be moulded onto the ashtray bottom as one piece and sit in where the ashtray was originally with all the wiring modified down...

The bottom of the button was catching part of the ashtray so had to cut that away. The rest of it is staying to keep it with the ability to clip in and out...

And in situ, just to give you an idea...

Also the centre console has started to be butchered away with the headunit slot being worked on first...it's quite tricky but it's gunna be done and ready for having the plastic covers welded to the backs and all the fibreglassing etc...

I've still got to cut everything off the back of the air vents and then I'll crack on with the smoothing.

Let me know what you think Smile

Mattig base plates arrived direct from Mattig so going to get those wrapped up in leather and have the mirrors sprayed in Moonstone Blue to match the colour of the car.

How the setup looks with the base plates and mirrors paired up...

The two parts are going to be made into one piece so we will be plastic welding and reinforcing where ever is needed so the whole piece is strong.

The top section is going to be cut up and reshaped and using the spare dash we have we'll be shaping up the lines of it.

The bottom section is having plates welded to the backs of the vents and also the headunit holder and then again fibreglass and filer to create the continuous shape we're looking for.

Also I am looking at integrating the heater controls as we speak. Making them look like they're part of the console and not sit behind the console. Only blending in the cover and spraying up so it looks like one piece.

Like what you've done with the engine cover and great idea for the hazard switch, it's those differences that help it standout from the rest.

Thanks Dave Smile I know exactly what you mean about the little things. Hopefully all the little things help it stand out from the rest.

A bit more work done during the day...I'm only into the first/second coats of paint on them and they do need a bit of correction but I've never had anything so hard to paint.

First up...can anyone tell me what the hell is going on here. I've contact Mattig and they've said this is how the mirrors are meant to be...

Base plates :S

Mirrors sitting on baseplates...

and the spraying...

What I've come up with a day and still not even close to finishing...

Oh and one of the mirrors and base plates paired up to give you an idea of how it will all look once complete. Also what I am going to be doing is once I've got all the paint on the parts, I'm going to build the mirrors and baseplates up using the bonding adhesive and screws provided and then laquer them all up as one piece.

Let me know what you think Smile

Thanks Skinny, still got people saying similar things 2 years down the line bud. It's a bit of a mad one, especially being 21 but it was something different, thought it's worth the risk so gave it a go...

BTW...this originally used to be a 206 Dash Centre...
