try 90-95bhp, but it's the extra torque that makes the difference
#10: Re: Remaping Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:30 pm ---- 101bhp is the highest on this site from a 1.4hdi

#15: Re: Remaping Author: Alan_206HDi, Location: Hatfield Heath, HertsPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:48 pm ---- When I first had it done, it felt like I had been given a new car, all for a mere £190 !
#16: Re: Remaping Author: Boydie, Location: BelfastPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:50 pm ---- lol still feel the same? worth gettin it done?
#17: Re: Remaping Author: Antknee, Location: ManchesterPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:50 pm ---- Any idea how badly it affects insurance prices? Been thinking about it myself but might have to wait another year or so
#18: Re: Remaping Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:54 pm ---- Remaps are difficult to find should you be in a crash, very very very few insurance companies will read the ECU configuration
Any idea how badly it affects insurance prices? Been thinking about it myself but might have to wait another year or so
I have no idea about the difference in insurance prices....

#23: Re: Remaping Author: tomheslop, Location: South East, StevenagePosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:08 pm ---- was thinking about getting my car remapped petrol 1.4 16v can they do as much with the petrol models?
#24: Re: Remaping Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:11 pm ---- It will smooth out the throttle response, and flat spots. But you won't see nowhere near the gains a HDi will. A small ounce of torque and a few horses.
was thinking about getting my car remapped petrol 1.4 16v can they do as much with the petrol models?
To put it simply, no.
#26: Re: Remaping Author: tomheslop, Location: South East, StevenagePosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:15 pm ---- Just realised how stupid my question was. lol
I should have asked what gains would my car get?
#27: Re: Remaping Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:37 pm ---- 4-5bhp max
#28: Re: Remaping Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:44 pm ---- with mods 10 maybe Last edited by kieron on Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:52 pm; edited 1 time in total

Only if it's Twincharged
VW ftw!
#30: Re: Remaping Author: abs06, Location: East SussexPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:58 pm ---- I have 1.4 16v petrol, and wanted to do k&n but my mate said that it would jus suck in loadsa air and make the poor worse and that a good remap would be better along wif a better exhaust.
Could we fit a turbo to 1.4 and would that make a differance?
#31: Re: Remaping Author: Seabook, Posted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:59 pm ---- what kind of turbo are you talking about?
#32: Re: Remaping Author: tomheslop, Location: South East, StevenagePosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 5:03 pm ---- Get a panel filter as they are more suitable in the smaller engine cars.
If you have spare couple of grand you could get a turbo fitted and yes that would make a massive difference.
And if you are getting a turbo you would probably be better off with a stand alone ECU (IIRC) and you would need to upgrade a few other things as well.
#33: Re: Remaping Author: abs06, Location: East SussexPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 5:25 pm ---- Not sure on turbos. If they like within 400/500 id consider doing. If more be better if getting a gti 180. But atm its not sumin i want to do as i want to go uni in 2 years. But i was jus wondering
#34: Re: Remaping Author: Tezza, Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.Posted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:34 pm ---- On a non-turbo'd car, your looking at around about 10% improvement with a re-map, so tbh its not worth getting it done on your 1.4 16V even if you put a filter and exaust on, and also i wouldnt waste my money turbo'ing it if i were you!
