#1: Rear windscreen wiper = dead? Author: Twidly, Location: Home - Norfolk, Uni - PrestonPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 1:53 pm ---- So just got in my car to come home from the gym, turned my rear wiper on & nothing, not even if I squirt screenwash on the screen!
It worked on the way to the gym about 45 mins previous.... but a few weeks ago when it was frozen it tried to wipe & couldn't go anywhere because of the ice, but pulled itself back & ended up on my boot... I switched it off & turn it back to where it should be & it was fine ever since... Until about a week ago it decided to stop in the middle then start again from the middle... thus ending up on my boot again! So I did as previously done & just reset it's position & it was fine.
It now doesn't even make the click sound of the motor (I'm assuming) So what's happened?
Motor burnt out or what?
& how much is this going to cost?
Thanks

#3: Re: Rear windscreen wiper = dead? Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 1:57 pm ---- Excuse to de wiper it
#4: Re: Rear windscreen wiper = dead? Author: Twidly, Location: Home - Norfolk, Uni - PrestonPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 1:58 pm ---- That's not what I want to hear... I like my rear wiper... I didn't mean to do it either... It was still turned on from the previous journey & just did itself
#5: Re: Rear windscreen wiper = dead? Author: 2Oh!6, Location: GloucesterPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:01 pm ---- Well I don't know but if it ain't moving i'd guess it is the motor, I don't think they're expensive anyway probably around the 20 quid mark, maybe cheaper if you get it off someone breaking one on here.
#6: Re: Rear windscreen wiper = dead? Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:06 pm ---- Liam-Hutch has one
#7: Re: Rear windscreen wiper = dead? Author: Twidly, Location: Home - Norfolk, Uni - PrestonPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:07 pm ---- Are we sure it's the motor first though... & could I fit it myself?
#8: Re: Rear windscreen wiper = dead? Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 3:49 pm ---- Its a pain in the a**e job, but can be done by anyone
Undo wiper but undoing the 13mm nut (try getting a wiper removal tool, or give it a yank but you most likely will break it)
Remove rear tailgate trim but pulling it off
Undrill three big rivets
Unplug and remove
Best to bolt the new one back on, as the rivets are quite uncommon

#17: Re: Rear windscreen wiper = dead? Author: abs06, Location: East SussexPosted: Wed Jan 19, 2011 4:28 pm ---- on my old Fiat Bravo when the rear wiper stopped, i took it all apart, the motor and housing, and then had a play about to make sure the connectors were clean and their wasnt anyting stoping motors from turning, gave it a clean and put new grease in and it worked fine after that.
