Ever since having my Pug the UNBLOCK DIESEL FILTER light has been on. A mate read the codes today and came up with P2048 which relates to the fuel cap sensor. The sensor on checking was gunged up and broke removing it. Does anyone have one going spare or know anyone breaking a car. Or failing that the cost from Pug? It's s GTI HDI 1.6

#2: Re: Fuel Cap Sensor Author: troy, Location: llanelliPosted: Wed Jan 19, 2011 3:17 pm ---- it could well be the sensor on the fuel cap but 9 times out of 10 this fault is caused by the pink diesel additive on your car to be low, im not sure of its real name but this is what we have called it, i hate to tell you this but it is quite expenivse, and very awkward to refill. if you want to have a look at the level the tank is usually under the car, on the d/s/r just infront of the rear axle. dont bother phoning a motor factors as they wont have a clue what your on about. but the fluid is availible on ebay.

I had an anti-pollution fault message, took it to peugeot and it has come up that i need a new "cap sensor and cap". I have been quoted £210 for labour & materials but if I want to know if you can buy the part elsewhere to save a few £'s ???

A new one is £63 from Peugeot. You've got to drop the fuel tank to disconnect the wiring as it goes to the fuel pump and also to the Eolys pump on the other side of the car. Just replacing the cap didn't turn the warning off and mines still on (albeit no faults showing now on Peugeot Planet) so I assume for the price the dealer will also do that.
