#3: Re: WTF Author: Jay794, Location: Sheffield/Chesterfield/DronfieldPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 8:58 am ---- There was a few threads about this on the old Info site. It just means there's a problem with your car, get the fault codes read or a good service, that should fix it. FYI, I'm still trying to find the Veyron button on my car

Incorrect.
The car goes into Eco mode to save the battery so there is enough charge to start the car.
Eg if you're sitting in the car with the radio on for 20 mins or so the car will go into eco mode & disable some functions such as the radio & lights.
#5: Re: WTF Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:01 am ---- lol there's lots of problems with my car, anything more specific
#6: Re: WTF Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:01 am ---- what it mean that say you leave your doors open or inside light on etc it will go into eco mode so your battery will not go flat
EDIT beaten to it!!!!!!!!!
#7: Re: WTF Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:02 am ---- so battery is low?

How is that incorrect? surely if your battery is low on power that is classed as a problem?
#9: Re: WTF Author: ersturbo, Location: crawleyPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:02 am ---- what i would do to have a small screen to tell me whats wrong with my car i cant even have the fault finder thing put on my car its all about using your damn eyes and ears
#10: Re: WTF Author: Junglingo, Location: HampshirePosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:03 am ---- there is not a problem with your car! lol there is a 30 mins time-out on power when engine is not running. using the radio, courtsey light etc.. when the engine is not running will be cut off after 30 mins or so. start the engine and it resets the timer.
there is no by-pass for this feature, which is annoying, but it saves your battery dying if you leave your lights on.
it will do this if the battery is low or brand new
#11: Re: WTF Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:06 am ---- thanks lingo, and everyone else of cause, well thats a good thing.
lol i do have an alarm in car, i was working on stereo/speakers other day, alarm went off, BUT i was in car a good 30 mins before that lol

Because code reading or a service won't cure this problem
Either the battery is on its last legs, or you've had the engine off and been listening to music.

It is incorrect
The BSI is programmed to stick the car in economy mode after a certain amount of time ( setting changeable with Peugeot planet, 15 minutes is the latest Peugeot main dealer setting ) no matter how good the battery is, you could have the car hooked up to the biggest 12 volt battery known to man, the BSI wont care it will still time out & put the car in to economy mode.

As above there are no faults with your car.

You can turn it OFF in the BSI configuration set up with Peugeot Planet

Even needing a new battery wouldnt bring Eco mode up as a fault because (it's not a fault)

Exactly, its a designed in feature of the car that is explained in the owners manual ( when people actually bother to read it )
#23: Re: WTF Author: Jay794, Location: Sheffield/Chesterfield/DronfieldPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:32 am ---- Yeah but I had a couple of anti pollution faults that needed fixing too, hence getting the fault codes read and having a service uncovered a load of other problems that were fixed

These would of had nothing to do with Eco mode tho.

There's nothing wrong with your car, it's just doing something PSA Peugeot / Citroen designed the software to do
#28: Re: WTF Author: NICKST, Location: Little hulton (worsley)Posted: Thu Jan 27, 2011 9:45 am ---- This is how you fix it. Don't leave you stereo ,lights or enything else on while the engine isnt running and it wont do it.

ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
After the engine has stopped, with
the key in the accessories position,
certain functions (windscreen wiper,
electric windows, courtesy lights,
audio equipment etc.) can only be
used for thirty minutes, to prevent
discharging the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, the
message "Economy mode active"
appears on the multifunction display
and the active functions are put on
standby.
A flat battery will prevent the engine
from starting.
