please take 2 mins to read this story iam pulling my hair out with my 206

right then my 206 has been bad on petrol for a while i had a new manifold/cat fitted 20/12/2010 due to old one braking week after new middle pipe and back box all cheap parts not gen pug parts as the cost a bomb 2 week after then car was serviced still no change on the amont of fuel it was using shortly after engine management light came on when to have code read and it said CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD (BANK 1) code no p0420 the bloke in the garage said it was because it was a cheap cat and it needs replacing i then went to a pug specialist told him my story he said same cheap cat doesnt last long when i said its been on 4 weeks he said he has one car in that had one fitted 2 weeks ago and it was no good.i know the are two sensors one before cat and one after cat they both gave readings on the diagnostic machine but could these be the problem instead of cat.even thought both garages said its the cat the thing i carnt work out is that when new cat was fitted there was no change in the amount of petrol the car was using still same could the sensors be my problem

please help me my car is doing 120 miles to £30
any help is greatfull

thanks

My 1.1 does 300 to £45 at the moment, 250 if I push it. Something's not right with yours.

Unless you're just driving like a crazy fool Wink

Plenty of people on here will shed some light on it when they find the thread.

I would suggest a faulty sensor, but it doesn't match the poor fuel consumption.

so a faulty sensor wouldnt affect the fuel being used

Not sure. I don't think the sensors have any influence on the fuel system. I'm useless when it comes to engines though, I know how they work, but that's about it.

You're seem to be referring to the lambda sensors. My knowledge is not the best in this area but I know it takes the readings and I think if its dodgy it could cause your car to overfuel in which case could be using more fuel?

Yeah, lambdas. If the sensor is connected to the fuel system, then that's a good possibility.

Get it fault read and see if they can be a bit more specific.

Yep, pretty much all the sensors on the engine are there to controll fuel/spark Wink

Lambder, temp or map would cause the fueling to be off

Downstream lambda probably needs replacing. Same happened to my 1.1.

Don't quote me on that though
