#1: Johnk progress thread Author: johnk, Location: Fife, ScotlandPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:34 pm ---- Gutted to be having to make this again was epic typing it all before and finding all my old pics so here we go again!
bought the car in feb 2006 looked something like this...
1st purchase for the car was a spoiler and some sp arches
Which i painted in my garage didnt turn out too badly!
Then got hold of some wheels of a mate just didnt look right not being lowered!
Changed wheels again got some 106 raptors in black
Shortly after bought some springs and shocks and fitted them
So the car was looking like this which i was happy with
Then some vortex(180) alloys came up at a bargain price so snapped them up
After a clean
Then purchased a peco backbox
Then when it was looking its best also showing my showcage
Then in january 2009 i bought a gti engine off brian(brian) and graham(fool_throttle) to do a conversion on my car
Started taking the old engine out
Preparing to put new one in
shortwhile later engine was in
Then swapped/part exchanged wheels with wagsy for some nimrods
which then got swapped for some cyclones
Which i sold and bought some siroccos from wagsy again
That are also sold now! and have some 15" gti alloys bought from (irish al)
Few other bits done along the line.
then last week won these on ebay and picked them up in glasgow so on the look out for the rear
So thats how the car stands at the minute, conversion still aint complete due to losing my job/moving to england for a few months then back up here last novermber when i started working again so all thats left to do is the wiring loom then it'll be back on the road.

#15: Re: Johnk progress thread Author: johnk, Location: Fife, ScotlandPosted: Thu Apr 15, 2010 1:51 pm ---- Just thought i would update this cars pretty much ready to go everything connected up new seats in/gti dials/carbon look centre console....just need ecu unlocked and the engine plug/interior plug wires swapped around.
Really struggling to find anywhere to get the ecu unlocked had a quote from www.bluehawkelectronics.co.uk/ for £85 then couldnt get in touch with them for weeks about posting it down and payment then last night there website stopped working
Emailed ecosse see if they could unlock the ecu and sort wiring told them everything was connected up and all electrics were working, cant give me a price unless i get the car towed like 45/50miles to let them see it.
Quote::
Hi John
I could give you a price but until we see the car it would be a very very rough estimate.
We get this allot and the car is never how it is described.
We would really need to see the car to give a price.
Regards Greg
anyway heres some pics i took fitted exhaust system today to discover the backbox sits about 5inches past the bumper , so the grinders coming out to play on the centre section tomorrow .
Also sold my red 206 gti but took the phase 2 rear lights and gloss black mirrors

the vortexs will look awesome on that man, get them found and get them on lol.
as for the accord, couldn't be happier with it man. sooooooo much better than the 206 in every way. for a big petrol engine, it's not bad on fuel either.
but as said, you manage to get it going smoothly yet?

Hi mate the splitter is from the older renault laguna, try scrapyyards/ebay for one and the arches i got on here for £30 i think it was and just painted them myself, just have to keep checking for sale section.

found out it isnt water smells like petrol in the oil, cant be worn pistonrings as it had a compression test so im putting it down to not being driven and just sitting idling, only time will tell i suppose but is running fine just now.

#31: Re: Johnk progress thread Author: johnk, Location: Fife, ScotlandPosted: Tue Jun 29, 2010 9:31 am ---- not really many updates apart from had the car in for an mot, falied on the following:
*brake pedal creeps down under servo assistance and touches floor. (changed for a bigger servo, still doing same hmm)
*powersteering pipe leaking from a seal. (got seals from peugeot just need to change them)
*both front tryes fouling inner arch on full lock.
*both front wheelbearing excessive play. (now fixed)
also changed my stadard dash clock and wired in a ppt40 and got the grey dash console for the wider clock

#34: Re: Johnk progress thread Author: Lecktorious, Location: ScotlandPosted: Wed Jun 30, 2010 6:28 am ---- Whats making the tyres catch on full lock, are they the wrong profile? Are you still using the 1.4 TU master cylinder? If you are, you'll be needing one from a 206 GTi or a 306 GTi-6 / 406 V6. Not sure how the latter will fit though...
#35: Re: Johnk progress thread Author: johnk, Location: Fife, ScotlandPosted: Wed Jun 30, 2010 8:57 am ---- not really sure mate, could just be as the coilovers are wound right down i bought spacers but need longer bolts to fit them.
yeah still using the 1.4 master cylinder changed to a bigger servo, would i have to get the master cylinder from one without abs same as mine?

You'll defo need to swap the master cylinder mate, that's what's causing the massive amount of pedal travel. Nore sure about the ABS though, as you've not got ABS it might start throwing up all sorts of ABS error codes though when the ECU senses the ABS pump isn't present

Updates?
Had it in for another mot today also got an engine flush and oil change, failed on emisions and brake load valve i think it was so nothing big, driving it home to fix the things and about half a mile from home there's a strong smell of petrol(thought nothing of it as its been overfueling with petrol coming out exhaust), got home on the drive and the smell was so strong was unreal, Looked under the car to see petrol spewing out all over the hot exhaust and petrol in the car park where i had driven!.
At this point told my mum to move her car and asked if anyone had a fire extinguisher as i was sure it was going up in flames!.
Cars still hot so not checked to see what went wrong yet luckily took a long way home from garage and avoided 5 speedbumps my exhaust had scraped over on the way for the mot or could have sparked and went boom!.
#41: Re: Johnk progress thread Author: johnk, Location: Fife, ScotlandPosted: Sun Aug 15, 2010 8:46 am ---- Things it failed on were.
1.exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits[7.3.D.2b]
#42: Re: Johnk progress thread Author: Anony-X, Location: NorwichPosted: Sun Aug 15, 2010 10:59 am ---- 1. i threw some redex cleaner through my car before the MOT, like 5x what they recommended than bombed it up and down a dualie to get the cat nice and hot and run the redex through and mine passed after failing on 2nd fast idle emissions
2. WD40 to the seized valve on the rear axe
