#1: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: perry081064, Location: staffordshirePosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:56 am ---- im getting a vibration through floor and the car pulls to the right slightly.
..my advisary on mot stated the bush had deteriated on the front lower suspension.
seems to be more noticable once i fitted the alloys.
would it be the bush gone altogether do you think , if not what else should i check?
.. id need to book it in at the local garage as im useless, any ideas as towards costs?
#2: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: DeadEyePaul, Location: Rugby,WarwickshirePosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:07 pm ---- They should give you a estimate before any work is carried out if they are a good garage
#3: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: boozeman, Location: manchesterPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:07 pm ---- have you has the wheels balanced? could cause the vibration.
#4: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: perry081064, Location: staffordshirePosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:15 pm ---- yea wheels was balanced, if i refit my steelies , the vibration is still there but not as strong.. doesnt seem to pull over to the right as much either.
yea i know the garage would quote me before any work being done, just wondered if anyone on here had an idea what it is before i take it in.
#5: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:20 pm ---- What alloys you got? Thye got spacers on them?
#6: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:20 pm ---- might be bearings too, jack car up and see if wheel wobbles? if it does, get new bearings, im sure ya can change them ya self.
if it dont wobble, get ya wheels balanced again, will be cheap.
bushes are cheap but a pain to change sometimes, but ya dont need to be a mechanic to do em.ya just need a mate whose got the tools lol
a garage will charge 40-60ph, even if its just finding out whats the problem, and then they dont always get it right.
see what ya can do ya self first, will be cheaper and ya will learn more about ya car

checked for wobble a few times now, keep going back to my steelies as it feels better (lighter vibration) .. no wobble.
..will have the alloys rechecked for balance .
i would try the jobs myself, but my tools got "mislaid" by my kids
was thinking about having the wishbones, trackrod ends , new discs and pads done at the garage in one go.
..any idea on what prices id be looking at ?
( the mech there is pretty decent and would even let me watch how its done if i wanna stay)

Author: D4NTP, Location: Not Leeds or its surrounding areas!Posted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:36 pm ---- Had bad vibrations on mine after a trackday, got the tyres changed and balance and was the same, took it back they balanced it again, got worse, took it to a much better garage, balanced them now they are spot on, turns out the balancing machine was knackered in the first garage. As for the pull, get the tracking done. Got the wheels balanced and the tracking sorted at north eastern tyres for £50, it was the best £50 i have ever spent!

#11: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: buddy1, Location: leicestershirePosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 2:15 pm ---- What you are describing sounds just like my nephews problem described exactly. He put wheels on his corsa that just didnt fit to big didnt upgrade anything else and where rubbing on the inside . Have you changed wheels ?
#12: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: sgwilson, Location: shropshirePosted: Sun Jan 30, 2011 3:47 pm ---- wobbeling the wheels doesn't always show the bearings gone
#13: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: perry081064, Location: staffordshirePosted: Mon Jan 31, 2011 9:44 am ---- well i booked it in tomorrow
mech thinks its a wheel bearing judging from my description.
(not sure how much itll cost though )
also there's a very small leak of coolant coming from the top radiator pipe at where its bolted to the engine)
seems like there's a lot of black sealant there, so perhaps a bodge repair.
hardly anything really , but prefer no leak.
easy enough to fix ?

............ getting it looked at by a mechanic? Thats what i did, also listen for a wurring/grinding noise.
#16: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: perry081064, Location: staffordshirePosted: Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:07 am ---- well i just got a call from the garage
they sorted the cooling leak .. just a new plastic connector
now the bad news
although they say its inconclusive, theyve spun the wheels around on the ramp and took the motor for a run and say:
it could be a wheel bearing (thats not too bad i though)
he suggested letting that get worse.
.... however, it could be your automatic gearbox (al4).
i didnt expect him to say it could be the gearbox, ive had no warning light flashing from snow to sport.
ive drove it in both sport mode and normal mode, so a bit of speed and urban driving and had no strange noises or gear dropping .. not even any overheating.
really not sure what to do now.... any ideas guys ?
#17: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: perry081064, Location: staffordshirePosted: Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:41 pm ---- sound is pretty much like in this video .
#18: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Tue Feb 01, 2011 6:31 pm ---- I seem to be getting similar issues. Wobbling at higher speeds. Does the car sometimes tug randomly too? Mine does. Again I have put alloys on, same size as yours and it is more noticable. I have very slight play in the rear wheels. Not sure if that could cause it on their own. The things in the middle of the drums were a bit loose forgot what they are called. Hammered them back in but didn't do anything. Also I tried stopping on the handbrake and it was slowing down but it was very lumpy/gentle jerking. Not sure if this is related however

i get no wobble.
no play in any wheels at all
handbreaking works fine no lumpy/jerking.
hell, even my mechanic cant figure it out
#20: Re: vibration through floor and pulls to right ? Author: perry081064, Location: staffordshirePosted: Wed Feb 02, 2011 10:31 am ---- well , put the steelies back on again today.. still a very slight rubbing sound but at least dont give me a headache after 10 mins.
