I have a silver 206 ... I'm planning to change his collor (full paint job).

Was wondering if a matte silver / matte grey would be nice or not for the car.

the roof I plan to paint in solid black, but with a great final gloss look, to be as close as possible as a black glass appearance, since it has the sunroof and it is black glass.

Has anyone ever seen any matte silver 206?

Was also planning for: chrome shadow vortex wheel + black angel eyes headlights...

another option I have been thinking about is also a matte pearlescent white.

if anyone has any pics of similar idea, please share with me.

That camaro is gorgeous.

I saw a matte charcoal GT-R the other day, which was epic.

Its definately different, matt white and black have been done to death now. I've personally not seen matt silver, and from the above examples, ESPECIALLY Matties, there's a strong case for a great colour. I say go for it, be the first on Info!

I know someone who has a matt black BMW X5, but he found it cost cheaper to get a full body wrap instead. Looked mint.

exactly
matt black and white are quite "common". And the black is usually done by wrapping...

since my car is silver, and will need a deep paint job, was wondering if the matt silver would be nice ...

I have no idea and information about how to paint a matt car... anything special? what about after, to keep the car clean? any issue?

Matt colours just use a Matt laquer over the top instead of a gloss one - needs a decent sprayer to pull it off as you can't colour sand a nd polish later to remove any inconsitencies.

Wash and wax as normal after but don't buff to a shine! lol

They look more like wraps than actual paint jobs.

So how did they wrap inside the door jams, under the bonnet etc without seams?

that's my concern as well...

it was offered the wrap for the matte silver, but I would like to see how is the door edges, door access, and also bonnet and wings interiors, close to engine bay... it would be weird having the car in matte silver but when you open the door or bonnet you can see the regular gloss silver in the edge or outer area....

wrapping is also less expensive... but I will try to see a car to make a decision if it is not strange...

I just found today:
wrapping in matte silver : R$1.600 (£ 570)
new paint job in matte silver : R$ 2.400 ( £850)

My car is a 2000 silver. So it is a 11 year old model, and it has some marks, such as paint coming off/peeling close to the door edges and under the tail lights.

The cost difference is not so much.

Was wondering if it is better to wrap or paint. Wrap takes 2 - 3 days. A new full paint job takes 20-25 days.

Anyway I will need to paint and fix some details :
- in my roof: it has 2 wholes for the antennas (1 in front, original , 1 in rear, after installing sunroof) and will cover it to let without any antenna
- will install new wings, the wider model
- the side mirrors are peeling of the plastic, maybe because it is too old and time damaged. Planning to paint in gloss black

So , any suggestions what would be best?

A wrap really isn't an alternative to paint. It's cheaper for a reason Wink

You can not do the jams etc without it looking awful, it is removalble at anytime upto 3 years on a decent product.... there isn't a comparison really.

Plus, someone doing a bad wrap job, it will lift out of the concave areas in no time, go brittle and crack looking as bad as it can be. Make sure a good, qualified wrapper does it - then it will cost about the same as a paint job but at least it will last.
