#1: Stiff 1st gear :( Author: -RAJ-, Location: COVPosted: Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:07 am ---- Just my 1st gear is sometimes quite hard to select which is really annoying, anyone got an ideas what it could be and is it an easy fix.

I also suffer problems with the gear box and 1st gear is particularly bad. As someone else said it is definitely worse when cold after 15-20mins of driving it generally gets better.
I have fitted group N linkages and a short shift kit, while this has improved shifting especially in 3rd-5th it hasn’t solved the problem of it being really difficult to get into 1st. The best way I’ve found to overcome this is to lift the clutch, blip the throttle, clutch back down and it’ll go in. However, this often leads to the car next to me at the lights seeing this as some kind of invitation for a race – which is great except a lot of cars are faster than my 1.6
