My key has had water damage and needs new chip!! Went to dealer said £69 exc VAT,


And thats literally just the chip, not to program it etc etc! Luckily I have the code for it though Smile

Does that sound right????

Yes.

Not cheap - we had to get a new one for our Kia - £180.

could you not try a local locksmiths that does car keys?

The chip itself is fried!!! I already went ot a locksmiths! and thats his exact words!! He said you will need a new chip, then I can easily code it for you!

oh i see, what i meant was that if a local locksmiths can make spare car keys surely they will have the chips and maybe they would be cheaper than the dealer prices

Then sell the brand new key on eBay

As Lee says I think they will sell you just the transponder for about a fiver so possibly even cheaper.
