hi

i need some help. my matrix heater is leaking into the passenger footwell. i need to get it replaced but have been getting ridiculous quotes. someone said i have to remove the whole dash. is that true? also has anyone done it and can offer me any advice?

You can get it out without removing the whole dash.

You need to remove the glove box compartment (glovebox door and inside lining). Once the lining is out, you can bend the dash trim that runs under the glovebox out of the way to slide the heater matrix in and out. It will easily bend once the glovebox liner is out and it will return to its original condition once you let go. Much easier than spending a day getting the dash out.

very easy to replace done one previously on a 1998 plate and was completed in little over an hour. Dash removal isn't required.

Before you remove the heater matrix check the o rings first.there is a disconnect with two o rings where the pipes coming from engine are connected to the matrix.
