does any 1 know if a 206 cc air box is the same?

also can any 1 identify if this 1 is a 180 airbox bodged on?

Yes the 2.0 CC is the same.

i always though 2.0cc is same as 206gti apart from the body shell.

People like to think so but it's not. A lot of parts are the same but the suspension rates are softer. Stiff suspension would highlight the lack of torsional rigidity in the bodyshell.

are the gti180 airboxes better than the standard gti airboxes? might be a silly question but if i dont ask i'll never know.

I've never owned a standard GTi so I'm not speaking from experience but only from research I've done online into trying to find a new 80 box:

The 180 box appears to be smaller than the 138 box but seems to be a lot more involved as far as pipework is concerned from its intake.
I used to own an XSi and that looked pretty much the same as the 138 box though. (Again not having owned a 138, I could be wrong.)

I'm looking for a replacement 180 airbox to modify to allow a larger intake pipe to be fitted, therefore increasing its capacity to suck in fresh, cool air.
Much like standard 206s (from what I've read) the pipe leading off from the airbox reduces down to a weedy little hose.

Any ideas anyone?

cant you cut the hose opena bit more, i know we used to do this with the v6's vauxhalls we had, there was a cold air feed pipe that went behind the front grille and it had the smallest hole at the end possible, people just used to cut a bigger opening to get more air in.

I'd rather do as neat a job as possible to be honest and in the process, maybe gain a little intake roar.

The intake hose from the engine to the airbox seems to be around 100mm in diameter but the hose feeding the airbox looks like this:

 


Pretty pathetic, so I intend to try to continue the 100mm diameter of pipe from the airbox to behind the wing for cool air.

even peugeot sport designed group "N" air box+air feed give no significant power gain on RR, lost torque at low rev, gain a little torque towards redline.

do you think you can make something better than they do?

Actually I don't.

I do however like to improve on anything I can. I have recently read an article written by someone who has carried out this work and as a result, has obtained measured improvements.

I've also spoken to a company who specialise in improving performance in Peugeots and have the Dyno-data to prove that extra air intake improves the HP output of my model of car over the stock intake.
The chap I spoke to was also kind enough to provide me with some other ideas for improving my performance and fuel economy and the popular mods I should avoid due to them being a waste of time and money.

You make it sound like it's not possible to improve on anything stock.

The reason behind the design of the current intake is to conform to the DB rating standard when the car is manufactured. Information also obtained on good authority.

So not to be rude, but I'd rather take the word of the people whose job it is to improve them and see the results, over a diesel driver who just provides aggressive blarts of negativity.

Strange, you mention airbox...and you responded to my post about the airbox.
So it would be safe for me to assume that you're talking about the airbox no?
That IS what this thread has been about since it was started.

I'm new here and intend to share with and learn from others with experience and knowledge.
If you have something of use/interest to share then do so. It's entirely possible that you know more than I do in this field but at least share it instead of poopooing other's ideas.

I never knew there was even a sports airbox available and your comment wasn't exactly explanatory.
