Your windows already have the legal limit on tints (basically the slightly off colour that 'stops' UVA rays blah blah blah). Anything other that what is already manufactured in is illegal.
Behind the B Post ( rear passenger windows and rear screen) there are no limits
Side windows in front of the B Post ( front windows) must allow 70% of light through
Front windscreens must allow 75% of light through
Be careful whether the tint blocks 70% of light or allows through 70% of light. For front windows the regulations are about the amount of light that is allowed through. Also be aware that if you have a factory tint that blocks 10%, you will only be able to block an additional 20%
Mine had full tints when I bought it, and I knew it wasn't legal but just left it to see how long I'd get away with it ( didn't do too badly - 8months) They gave me the whole tint test and talk, while I played the 'I'm really sorry, I didn't know, it was bought like this' ( for being a girl! ) And have since spoken to loads of tinting companies who have said they don't have tints with such a low %. Everywhere said they'd happily tint my fronts, but be it on my own head.
Hate to be a spoil sport

ok. lol
people know they shouldn't have front tints but if they are light its unlikely you'll get stopped, i've had mine about 9 months and been stopped for other things and they've never been noticed... touch wood

Haha
Yeeeeh! I know, I guess it just doesn't make sense how people still want to have it done when eventually it will have to come off! I knew mine would, and the day I had to take them off I did it through gritted teeth and language that would shock the worst!! And I totally agree with what you said about just having the back 3 done, looking a like a half job. IT DOES!! Mine are dark smoke, and the fronts where easily 3 shade lights if not more, and looked slightly odd because they were so much lighter but still didn't get away with it
Best thing I've heard about tints was from the policeman who stopped my in the petrol station a few backs and asked to see my tax disc, because the sticky pad things had stopped sticking so it was just resting on the bottom of my dash, not really visible. They ran my car through their little machines and where happy, giving me a "stern word" on why I need to display my tax disc and the importance of getting it fixed. One of them said that he'd had his windows tinted by the same guys that mine are done by. Got talking about it and they said that the further away from places like London and major cities, the tougher they are on the window tint law. Purely because it the larger cities its so much harder to control who has illegal tints, ensuring they are removed etc. RIDICULOUS!
