#1: Why will my brake drum not come off? Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Tue Feb 08, 2011 5:59 pm ---- I failed at ggetting my drum off today. Was trying to inspect the shoes because I am getting a metal to metal noise and the front pads are fine.
I took the nut off and the washer. Then I gave it a tug. It should have just slid off but nooooo.
I thought maybe the brakes were binding slightly so I slackened off the handbrake to no avail. I tried to hammer and chisel it off but again nothing. I also put 2 wheel nuts in and tried to pull it but it didn't budge.

Left to right, up down etc
That sometimes does the trick

#4: Re: Why will my brake drum not come off? Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Tue Feb 08, 2011 6:13 pm ---- I thought it wouldn't be on the tight. didn't want to break it. To be fair I was giving it some big hits with the hammer from the back of the drum and it didn't seem to more at all. loads of rust fell off though

Author: giveitsomebar, Location: redditchPosted: Tue Feb 08, 2011 6:17 pm ---- put the wheel on and kick it from underneath, seems to happen on 206's quite offen. if you got the one side off do they need replacing? if so kick it off as the worst that can happen is the shoe clips fall off and the shoes fall apart
