#1: ECu unlocking Author: returnofjim, Location: SheffieldPosted: Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:17 am ---- Hi
Is there a way to unlock the immobiliser on the ecu? i have done it a few times on older models e.g 306 GTi6 by starting the engine then unpluging the ecu/transponder box while its running. Is this the same on a 206 GTi?

OR
Let the person buying it worry about unlocking it.
OR
If its going in another GTI they wont need the engine ecu.

What are all the components that go with the immobiliser and where are they all located?

Transponder chip is inside the keyfob
Engine ecu is under the bonnet.

Ive just started the engine, while it was running i unplugged the bsi unit and the ring round the ignition, turned the engine off, left the bsi and ring unplugged, removed the chip from the key and now it starts without needing any of them so im assuming that it has unlocked the ecu?
Thats the same way it works on a GTi6.

#10: Re: ECu unlocking Author: returnofjim, Location: SheffieldPosted: Mon Feb 14, 2011 5:22 am ---- another update:
ive plugged the bsi back in but left the chip out and the ignition ring and it still starts without them.

#12: Re: ECu unlocking Author: returnofjim, Location: SheffieldPosted: Mon Feb 14, 2011 5:49 am ---- Right if you unplug the ecu and plug it back in with the bsi still plugged in it wont start without the chip.
So i plugged the ingition ring back in, bsi and ecu connect back up like it should be started up again with chip in key. unplugged the bsi and ignition ring again while running and turned it off.
left the ignition ring and bsi unplugged and unplugged the ecu left it a few mins and plugged it back in, removed the chip from the key and it starts.
So i think as long as you dont plug the bsi back in it will stay unlocked.
MrBSI do you know which colour plug on the bsi is for the immobiliser? ill try leaving that unplugged and plug the others back in and go though the procedue again and see if it stays unlocked.
EDIT: i have only unplugged the blue, yellow and brown connections from the bsi.
