#1: ABS Fault Author: mdstone, Location: South WalesPosted: Thu Feb 17, 2011 11:38 am ---- Just had my car diagnosed by Pug and they say i need a new driveshaft as the n/s/f regulator ring has cracked. Quoted £300!
Is it not possible to just get a new ring? Only other option is a spare driveshaft from the scrapyard for about £40. Any recommendations?

i still have one i think
#3: Re: ABS Fault Author: mdstone, Location: South WalesPosted: Thu Feb 17, 2011 12:34 pm ---- They say regulator ring, is that abs ring, same thing?
#4: Re: ABS Fault Author: A18NHH, Location: MiddlesbroughPosted: Thu Feb 17, 2011 1:01 pm ---- yeah, ABS ring is a regulator ring, if you google them both and click images you'll see they look the same.
Mine had come off completely and i managed to replace just the ring - huge saving
#5: Re: ABS Fault Author: Andy180+, Location: doncaster south yorkshirePosted: Thu Feb 17, 2011 1:04 pm ---- just buy the outer cv joint if possible. Had to do this to my wifes cc, what engine is in your car ?
#6: Re: ABS Fault Author: mdstone, Location: South WalesPosted: Thu Feb 17, 2011 1:11 pm ---- GTi 2.0 2003.
Baffled as to why Pug would say I need a new drive shaft if it is just the ring cracked.
Quote "after investigation found n/s/f regulator ring on drive shaft cracked"
#7: Re: ABS Fault Author: A18NHH, Location: MiddlesbroughPosted: Thu Feb 17, 2011 1:14 pm ---- erm - maybe because they want the £300???
Changing the CV joint is an option too but what i said originally is the cheapest option.
#8: Re: ABS Fault Author: mdstone, Location: South WalesPosted: Thu Feb 17, 2011 1:22 pm ---- Cheers guys, i think i'll go for the abs ring replacement, got it in local garage for MOT Sat. maybe they will pick it up on the checks?

Because Peugeot dont list the ring as a spare part, for a main dealer its a complete driveshaft
#10: Re: ABS Fault Author: mdstone, Location: South WalesPosted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:23 am ---- Can get a new ring for £10 but sizes are 90mm or possibly 86mm. How would I know which would fit?
#11: Re: ABS Fault Author: paulrushton, Location: HuddersfieldPosted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:37 am ---- You can get a new drive shaft here for £49.99
They have an ebay store with 100% feedback on a stupid number of sales. Just another option for you to consider.
#12: Re: ABS Fault Author: A18NHH, Location: MiddlesbroughPosted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:09 am ---- the ebay link i posted was the exact part(s) i used and i have a 2002 GTi
#13: Re: ABS Fault Author: mdstone, Location: South WalesPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2011 9:06 am ---- paulrushton - It says those parts are for a 1.6, will it fit a GTi? Bargain for a cv joint.
Edit - CV joint for a GTi is £20, probably worth the extra £10 compared to an ABS ring.
#14: Re: ABS Fault Author: paulrushton, Location: HuddersfieldPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2011 9:16 am ---- Sorry thought a GTI was a 1.6. My mistake! Whoops!
