#1: Follow me home headlights Author: 206boy, Location: EnglandPosted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:41 pm ---- Hi,
I was reading a post earlier that said something about follow me home headlights?
I have a 55 plate 2 litre hdi. Is it possible to activate them on my car? If so, how?
Thanks
#2: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:43 pm ---- Have you got auto headlights?
If you have when you switch the engine off pull the stalk back as you would flash someone and the lights will stay on for 45 secs.
#3: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: 206boy, Location: EnglandPosted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:46 pm ---- Yes i do.
Does this mean it will do it all the time now? Or do I have to hold the full beam in everytime?
#4: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: Alan_206HDi, Location: Hatfield Heath, HertsPosted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:46 pm ---- You don't need Auto-headlights, as I haven't got them and I can go this!!

You need to "flash" each time to activate.

You have to flick the stalk when you want to use them.
#7: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: Matt, Posted: Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:02 pm ---- If you have your lights on auto and the are on (ie at night) they will stay on for about 30secs or until you lock the car.

#11: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2011 1:24 am ---- it means the lights stay on for 30 secs while you walk up your garden path, to illuminate where your walking

#15: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: abs06, Location: East SussexPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2011 3:34 am ---- I have a 55 reg and not auto lights but have follow me home lights. Its handy to have. A useful feature me thinks
Bit like deadlocking. I have that activated so when i drive off all the doors lock
#16: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2011 8:34 am ---- Can be easily retrofittted

#18: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: MrBombHead, Location: Horchurch, Essex, LondonPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2011 8:46 am ---- I was excited to find out that I had this on my car. Yet if I have to flick the stick each time, I am not likely to be using it.
Same as the folding mirrors... If I have to manually use the switch to fold them in, they are staying out
#19: Re: Follow me home headlights Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Feb 20, 2011 8:52 am ---- Very rare I use the follow me home headlights.
Only time I use the wiper service position is when im changing the wiper blades.
The folding mirrors get used a couple of times a week.

On your BSI (drivers fuse box), you will have a sticker with Siemens on it. Next to the barcode it will say BSI: xxxxx
The xxxxx are the model number, it will either be F01-00, F02-00 or F03-00
F01-00 = no chance
F02-00 = possibility if you have recent firmware
F03-00 = yes

Glad I have an old one then. So much easier, get out and they are on. And go off when car is locked or after about 30 secs.

The old BSI software versions is also full of bugs & lacks several features of the new BSI software versions

When the engine is switched of pull the wiper stlk to you as you was going to use the screen wash. The wipers will move up and stay up.
You dont eally need to do this as it is very easy to change the blades when they are in the stop position.
