#1: Gearbox noise on 1st, 3rd and 5th gear Author: Joe406, Location: StaffordshirePosted: Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:13 pm ---- My car makes a groaning noise when taking the car out 1st, 3rd or 5th gear whether the gearbox has warmed up or not.
It sounds almost as if the gearbox is dry.
I was wondering what it could be?

I am getting the oil level in the gearbox checked, just wanted to make sure it wasnt anything like linkages or bearings first...
its just weird the way it only does it on those gear;s/

How do I check the gearbox oil level? Is there a seperate dipstick for it or not?
