Gearbox noise on 1st, 3rd and 5th gear
-> 206 Problems

#1: Gearbox noise on 1st, 3rd and 5th gear Author: Joe406, Location: Staffordshire PostPosted: Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:13 pm

My car makes a groaning noise when taking the car out 1st, 3rd or 5th gear whether the gearbox has warmed up or not.

It sounds almost as if the gearbox is dry.

I was wondering what it could be?

The car was serviced at Peugeot about 8k miles ago so I presume there is.

I am getting the oil level in the gearbox checked, just wanted to make sure it wasnt anything like linkages or bearings first...

its just weird the way it only does it on those gear;s/

Oh right...I only bought the car two months ago and its my first car so I am bit of a novice to the whole mechanical side of a 206 apart from the usual oil and water and tyre checks...

How do I check the gearbox oil level? Is there a seperate dipstick for it or not?

Thanks

there is a oil adding plug right behind the passenger front wheel.

open that, if no oil drain oil=not enough oil
